“Large pub”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

Nicely appointed pub with great looking staff (wenches)! Food however is average at best. I gave it three tries and all were disappointing. Go for the beer and live music but seek other venues (plentiful nearby) for your meal.

“Going Down Hill”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

I was a regular visitor to the Halifax Ale House for a number of years because the draught was always cold, the food was better than average and the price was fair. The Molson Give-R's were always fun to attend and the location is perfect.
Seven of us went for a beer and a bite early one Saturday evening to kick things off, like we have been doing for a long time when we were told that they didn't have out favorite draught on tap any more and the prices on the menu jumped a fair amount.
One great thing about Halifax is there are tons of other bars and pubs, so we moved our thirst and appetites down the road, and our wallets came with us.

“Come for the "wenches" stay for the nachos”
Reviewed August 30, 2012 via mobile

Located directly across the street from citadel hill, it was a pleasant surprise. Expected overpriced crappy food, luckily We showed up on a Thursday... the daily deal was nachos and a pitcher of Keith's for $12 after 4:30. It was enough for 4 people to have a beer and an appetizer. The wenches were also showing their goods which made the overall experience more enjoyable. Worthy of checking out in Halifax, especially if you get that ridiculous deal. Cheers!

“Great Fisherman's Chowder”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

Enjoyed a relaxing lunch. Fabulous chowder and fish and chips. Handy location at base of Citadel Hill. Decided to sit in but the outside patio looked great too.
