“Perfect for an extended stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 19, 2009

Stayed a week on a combined business and pleasure trip. It was my first visit to Halifax and this hotel was located within walking distance of everything a tourist could want to experience about the downtown; with a car rental practically next door for those out-trips that needed wheels. Room was very spacious and nice layout; tonnes of space for all your clothing and a dream for a woman who uses the vanity area to get ready. More like a chic little apartment - complete with kitchenette, than a hotel room. Breakfast was included and they have a fabulous little set-up (try the self-serve Belgian waffle maker, mmm). Even let us park the rental car for free during the one evening we kept it overnight. I am a Marriott fan and this place reminded me why. Only two downsides; no pool, had a hot tub but it was way too over-heated.

My wife and I have stayed here twice (4nights and 5 nights) and will be staying again in February 2010. The hotel is clean and functional and the staff are extremely friendly. The breakfast offers excellent value, but if you arrive near to closing time, you can feel rushed. There is also an excellent "Managers Evening" about three times a week from memory, where the hotel puts on a variety of eats, nibbles and drinks in the early evening for a couple of hours.

The in-room amenities are excellent. The only downside to staying here is the walk up the steep hill from the waterfront! But hey, a little exercise never hurt anybody, right??

We have stayed at various hotels throughout Halifax and although we would consider all bar one of them good to excellent, you have to go a long way to beat this property for all round value. It is in an excellent location for the Metro Centre where the Mooseheads are in winter and the military tattoo is later in the year. Several concerts are also held here throughout the year I believe.

If you are travelling as a family then I would definitely recommend this property.

We found the front desk staf helpful. The room large, clean and practical with a kitchentte. Parking was the local going rate of $20 extra per night. We decided against eating the "complimentary" breakfast. We came late and it looked tired and unappetizing - typcal for these "complimentary" breakfasts. We had a lovely stroll down to the water and eat in a nice cafe called Perks for $8 each. We were woken up at 2 AM when all the pubs closed. The streets were mobbed and cars driving past with their music on full volume.

We stayed four nights here in July, 2009. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the breakfast is great and includes hot & cold food. Location is very central for downtown Halifax. Close to the citadel and the centre where the Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo was on. Our only complaint was the late-night noise from the local night clubs. We asked for a quiet room and got one but could still hear the music from the night clubs and the loud voices when the clubs shut down. We knew this was a problem with this hotel so came with ear plugs which worked fine. Aside from that issue the hotel was fine.

This is a very good location for a hotel, right in the middle of the City, close to the restaurant scene and a short walk to the major attractions.
The front desk staff are very helpful and as it is more of a suites type hotel, the staff is used to dealing with folks who are on extended stays. They know the City and the places to go and ,are happy to help you make choices of restaurants, bars or grocery stores to stock up your fridge.
The breakfast, included with your room is adequate and filling. There is even an evening appetizer waiting for you when you come back from your buisness or sightseeing. As well, there was always a cookie jar on the front desk for a little bite before bedtime.
The rooms (suites) are clean and well kept. Some are actual two room suites and some are larger rooms with a sitting area and a sleeping area. The room I had was a bit stuffy for me and opening a window was out of the question as it was noisy (and frosh week!). I would recommend this hotel for anyone but particularly for those of you staying for a week or more. Try to get a room on the upper floors though. The 1st floor rooms are noisy.
