Nice location, almost in the heart of the city. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and the waterfront. The hot breakfast is very good, ambience is like in a restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel has a rooftop as well which is nice to hang around and have some drinks. Staff are friendly, courteous and helpful - typical of maritime hospitality. I always like coming to Halifax where you can meet genuine people!!

Stayed here just 1 night, but it was so easy to view the Tall Ships, go back to the hotel for a drink, go out for supper, , go back to hotel and change, go out to watch the fireworks, etc. There is a small rooftop deck where we spent some time relaxing in the sun and having a drink, there was no one else there! When we went back after the fireworks, there must have been a few people watching from here as there were lots of empty bottles...
Very clean, all kitchen items included. Make sure to lift up the arm of the icemaker so that it does't wake you in the night. Mostly quiet, just sirens that I could here, street noise tends to drone out. A/C was super quiet! Parking was $19 which we managed to secure at 11am, and our room was ready then too! Daily local and Toronto papers.
A Halifax guide to restaurants, attractions in the room would be nice.Pillows are too soft for me.

We just ended our second stay this year at this hotel. As noted by others, good restaurants and attractions are easily walkable from this location. Our second visit was slightly less satisfactory for two reasons. First, on arrival (about 10:30 p.m. on a Thursday), although there was a flurry of front desk staff about, the one tasked with checking people in wasn't available within a couple of minutes (she seemed to be talking to a client/colleague in the office space behind the front desk. Second, our first morning there was also the first morning's use of the refurbished Hearth Room for the complimentary breakfast. This room remains too small for the number of people trying to use it and they've added an "on deck" area of chairs (in front of the unavoidable flat screen tv) for those waiting for a table. A better solution might be to make available trays for those who might wish to take their breakfast selection back up to their room, as there's a table in each one. Proximity to some local pubs can also be a negative: although I'm a sound sleeper, my wife was able to hear significant street noise at closing time.

This hotel is still a good choice and, as of early July, it's competitively priced but be aware that some "breakfast room choreography" may be needed to take advantage of the complimentary breakfast. Appreciated the complimentary newspapers and free internet (password required). We moved to the Delta Halifax which is older and north of the city centre but still within easy walking range of the waterfront and restaurants.

Room Tip: If you want a water view from this hotel, ask for a room no lower than the third floor. For example...

The Location of the Residence Inn is very central to the Waterfront, the Metro center is about two blocks away, Citadel Hill the same. Parking is available at the Hotel for $19 a day or on street, if one can find a space. Monday to Friday you have to pay for on-street parking. But nights and weekends are free. As we visited over a weekend/holiday, we parked free on the street a block away and saved $40 that way. There is also a parkade two blocks down, which has special rates from 6pm to 6am. - Our room was a Queen Studio Suite. As we were three persons, we made use of the pull-out couch, for which the linens were provided in the closet. The Bathroom is spacious. The room has a full kitchen, large fridge with freezer, dishwasher; everything you need to prepare meals for yourself if you want to. The rooftop deck of the hotel has a large BBQ that can be used as well. Everything is spacious. - Free breakfast is served daily and inlcuded waffles, scrambled eggs, sausages, beans, hashbrowns, cereal, toast, fresh cut fruit etc. Having such a selections is a nice feature. A few times a week they also host a evening reception for guest that serves snacks and drinks. The front desk staff was very helpfull and friendly. All in all a pleasing stay!

Room Tip: As there are Pubs and Bars in the area, nights can be noisy, especially on the weekend. Rooms facing...

We stayed twice in a week (one night each time), a first night at the end of June and then on July 1st. Very well located for those who want to walk downtown. Service was first class. Amenda and Ashley helped us find places that were open on Canada Day, gave us lots of useful info, allowed us an early check-in and a late check-out. The gentleman at the front-desk on July 1st and 2nd was also very kind and helpful to the grand-children who needed milk or hot water. The room was very spacious (we were given an "accessible" room on the main floor). Breakfast was delicious and abundant (yogourts, fruits, eggs, large variety of hot dishes, waffles,etc.). We enjoyed the rooftop patio in the afternoon and for the fireworks. However, the underground parking spaces are somewhat small. We highly recommend this hotel .

Room Tip: Rooms on the inside are quiet. Ours was located near the breakfast room and the coffee pots, so we...

This hotel has a decent location downtown and suited our needs. It had a kitchenette, clean and spacious rooms, and a hearty buffet breakfast. I'd recommend it for anyone who needs a clean, decent place to stay with the added bonus of a breakfast (a rarity for hotels these days!).
