“Excellent rooms, would return”

This hotel is excellently located in Halifax as it is about halfway up the hill. so walking to various destinations is convenient. It's a level walk to the convention centre, and Halifax downtown has no end of exciting opportunities too explore. Rooms are well appointed, housekeeping staff are excellent. there is a hot plate but no oven.

The only oddity with our experience was that we modified our booking a couple of times prior to our arrival, and each time we did so the price of the room went up. Marriott staff could offer no explanation for this. On finishing our work, we found the room so pleasant we tried to extend, and found the hotel booked solid, so book early if you go.

The free breakfast could be better. Try the Bluenose for a great scrambled/ham/toast inexpensive breakfast.

Our four days here zipped by. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location is good for sight-seeing. We walked all over downtown and to the Citadel. Getting in and out of the hotel with a car was relatively easy, too, and the parking garage was snug but not too tight. We had a very comfortable interior king room on an upper floor, and it was so quiet -- we saw other guests but we never heard anyone. The breakfasts were very good. Our kitchen was fully stocked so we could cook some meals, and there is a great store with organic groceries within walking distance, just past the Citadel on Dresden Row.

This hotel was recently renovated and the rooms are fabulous! The breakfast was a full breakfast with your choice of eggs, waffles, biscuits and gravy, as well as cold and hot cereals, coffee, juice, yogurt and fruit. The staff were friendly and helpful. I plan to stay here on my next trip

Room Tip: Ask for a harbourside room, they are quieter.

I stayed here solely based on location, not price. Anyway, terrible street noise during the early hours of the evening. It seems that all the bars empty to this street around 2 AM and the noise and sirens is not only excessive but a little scary. Breakfast was mediocre and $20 a day for parking seemed excessive. Other hotels have a much better complimentary breakfast so this inclusive does not warrant the higher then average price for a downtown hotel. The worst part of my experience here was seeing a particular female manager. This person had ZERO customer service skills and the staff seemed a little nervous around her. There must be a reason for this and I can only guess as to why. In the hotel industry a good manager creates good staff which in turn makes happy customers. This hotel does not understand this concept.

My friends and I went to Haliax to see a concert, and I booked this hotel as it was the closest one to the venue. I booked a regular room but we were mysteriously upgraded to a corner room that had a separate bedroom. It was more like an apartment than a hotel room. Everything was new and spotless. The full size fridge was perfect for the adult beverages we consumed before the show! Staff was helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was appreciated the next morning. But the best thing really about this place is the location. I have stayed at other hotels in Halifax closer to the water, and it's a bit of a hike to the club area. This hotel is right in the middle of it all. Our concert was on Argyle St and we walked there in about 30 seconds. Very convenient ! Everything was good about this hotel.

I have stayed at the Mariott's Residence Inn in downtown Halifax many times and am always impressed. The service is excellent, the rooms are beautifully renovated and it is located within walking distance to shops, the waterfront, restaurants and everything you need. Always a pleasure!

I have stayed at several hotels in Halifax, including all of the three Marriott hotels and both Delta Hotels, and I would hands down choose the Residence Inn Halifax again and again. I stayed at the Residence Inn for weeks and months at a time, and the courteous, extremely friendly staff made me feel right at home. The big TV's and full kitchens in all of the rooms are nice for extended stays. The entire hotel was just remodeled in early 2011, so the couches, beds, TV's, floors, and artwork are brand new! They even have the high-class granite countertops, which just goes to show they don't skimp when it comes to making the customer happy. There's a nice gym on the first floor, with laundry facilities on-site, and free breakfasts in the lounge. In the summer, their rooftop patio with lounge chairs and BBQ grill can't be beat!

And if you feel like getting a bite to eat or a drink somewhere, you only have to walk across the street to find a number of restaurants and bars, including my personal favorite "Durty Nelly's" Irish Pub. Located where it is, the Residence Inn is with 5 minute walking distance of virtually everywhere downtown, as well as Spring Garden Street and all of the businesses and restaurants there.

I thought the rates were very reasonable as well. Definitely much cheaper than the Harbourfront Marriott and many of the others in town. I don't think you'll find such big rooms packed with as many amenities for the price as you will at the Residence Inn Halifax. It was a pleasure staying there and I will certainly be back again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing west have the best views.
