“Excellent Tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

My husband and I joined another couple on this tour led by Emily. It was well worth the money and time. We had a blast. Emily is truly knowledgeable about downtown Halifax and the local food scene. All the food was great. We had salad, chocolates, three kinds of rum cake, soup and biscuits, schwarma, burritos, home-made bread and olive oil, and iced tea and cookies. It made our Halifax stay special. I urge you to take this tour; you won't be sorry. Thank you Emily!

“Bachelorette night out tasting tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

We booked this tour for my friends bachelorette party and it was a great choice for a girls night out! Emily met us with feather boas to make the tour a little more special. She was a great hostess full of interesting information about the restaurants and neighbourhood we were visiting. At each location we got a decent amount of food and were stuffed by the end of the tour. We all loved the variety and types of food we were able to taste and the atmosphere was unique at each stop. Emily was wonderful to deal with when booking the tour and very quick to respond to email. I went home and recommended my parents and other friends take one of the tours themselves. Keep up the great work!

“Great taste of Halifax”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2013

Took a recent cruise from Boston to Canada and was unsure what to do with our day in Halifax as we had encountered questionable weather. Walking the boardwalk we came across an ad for Local Tasting Tours at the visitors center, called and asked for availability, and our tour guide Emily was happy to add us on to her afternoon tour.

The tour gave us an opportunity to experience Halifax, while tasting some great food and learning about the city's history and food scene. We had both done other tasting tours and appreciated that this tour wasn't just about the history of the food we were eating, rather our guide discussed the food, it's preparation, and the way different business owners and groups of Haligonians had added to the city's fabric and quality of life.

We were unaware that it was Halifax's pride week, but our tour guide had done research and added information about queer Halifax history to the tour. It was a nice touch and showcased the city's commitment to diversity, evident through the very awesome and diverse array of food we tasted.

As noted in other reviews at the halfway point our tour guide provided water which was a very nice touch. We also appreciated that she had umbrella's for those of us who had none, as well as an guide sheet with contact information for the businesses visited at the end of the tour.

Please be aware that this walking tour includes some hills in case you (or your travelling companions) have impaired or slow mobility. It would be a good idea to give your guide a head's up to this ahead of time, as I am sure they will work to accommodate your needs. While on our tour our guide apologized for the rain (how Canadian was that :). I would recommend this tour for any visitor.

“Excellent Hostess!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013

My family (kids 14 and 8) took this tour at the beginning of July. The walking was enjoyable even though it was one of the hottest days of the summer. The guide was very personable and knowledgable not only about the food during the tour but the history of the town, buildings and local culture. This food tour was more than the wonderful food experience, but an immersion into the qualities of northeast Canada. Later in the week we drove to Prince Edward Island and I was amazed at the spontaneous comments the children made regarding the history our guide spoke of as we passed road signs. Kudos for the guide in making the food tour fun and most of all educational for our entire family! This is highly recommended! Also, we have taken food tours in other cities in the US and Canada and this was the first tour that gave a bottle of water in the middle of the tour to carry with us. It was much appreciated and made the tour more comfortable.

“Wonderful to deal with”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

I was on a cruise and had prebooked on my own this tour. The cruise was a few hours late so I wasn't able to do this exact tour but they actually put me on a later city tour and had a gourmet lunch sent to me so we could have a picnic after the tour. TOP NOTCH all the way!!!! Great bike tour too!!!
