June 2013 on a 14 Day HAL cruise to New England and Canada, we made 2 stops in Halifax, and on both we used Paul's services. Both days the service was excellent, Paul was waiting for us just off the pier, not a 3 minute walk from the ship. One trip we had 6 folks so he drove a large SUV and the other trip was just 4 of us so he brought a town car. Both vehicles were clean and comfortable and he provided water and fresh muffins his wife baked. The tour of Halifax Historical is fascinating, and Paul's knowledge of the Titanic and the history of the Halifax Explosion is extensive, and he does a great job of educating travelers in an entertaining way. The other tour of the island is not as educational but a relaxing day visiting many scenic locations around the island, with a neat stop at lobster shop where we saw a17 Lb. lobster, and a blue lobster, really interesting stuff to a land lubber. Book early as Paul is well regarded and fills his tours early.

6 of us booked with Paul who met us at the pier as planned. We didn't fit comfortably into the vehicle he was using that day, so Paul arranged for us to be with Dave, who it turns out had trained Paul years back. Great tour and we loved Dave and his vast knowledge! We met up with Paul (who had a group of 4 with him) at several locations (Public Gardens, Citadel, Titanic Grave Site, and at the restaurant in a fishing village by Dartmouth). So we got the best of both tour guides! I highly recommend this tour.

Our group of four thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Halifax. I had no idea that Halifax was so beautiful and had so many historical buildings. Paul did a fantastic job of showing off his city and spreading his enthusiasm for the city he loves. .....and the fishing village and lobster roll were exceptional!

I read about this tour on trip advisor and am so happy I did...I sent them a message a few days before we arrived on 9/30 and they immediately contacted me back...Paul immediately explained he was booked, but Emerson was available and would meet our ship when we docked. I have never had a tour with Paul, but I can tell you that Emerson was great! It makes all the difference to have someone who knows the area and the local places...he took extra care to make sure we didn't go to places at the same time the buses did...especially the Titanic burial grounds...we really appreciated this because it is a very special place. He also took us to eat at a local place, Wharf Wraps, it was the best meal we had during the whole cruise! Much better than the ship! I saved Paul and Emerson's cards to recommend them to others and in case we travel back to Halifax. Thank you both for a memorable visit!

Was in Halifax for one day on a cruise. Booked the historic tour with Paul McNeil. We weren't aware that it was Thanksgiving Day in Canada. Nevertheless, Paul took us on an amazing tour that included all of the highlights of Halifax, including the Citadel, several colleges and universities, the Botanical Garden, the Titanic gravesites, as well as a great lunch at Fisherman's Cove. Paul was extremely professional, knowledgeable and helpful. If you're in Halifax, skip the cruise ship tour and hire Paul - you'll be glad you did!
