“Great location and service”

The hotel is in a great location for exploring Halifax. It is close to the waterfront, bars, restaurants and the citadel. The staff were friendly and helpful while service was excellent. We had a very spacious double room.

The Lord Nelson is located near Dalhousie and across the street from the Halifax public gardens.
We had 2 rooms for my family on opposite sides of the hall. Neither had a view worth looking at including overlooking a roof of the building next door.
Overall the hotel felt run down. Our room should have had 2 queen bed instead of 2 doubles. There was more than enough room.
Parking was easy and underground. Breakfast in the hotel was expensive.
The staff were helpful when we decided to give up one of your rooms. I am sure they had no trouble filling it on Labour Day weekend (university move-in weekend).

Labour Day weekend is often one of our busiest and most gratifying given special time for many families relocating loved ones to local universities. Our location is great since everything nearby. I can appreciate your comments and pleased you found staff friendly and helpful. We have various rooms and would love for all to be large, luxurious with beautiful views however very proud of our historical product and believe we have something to offer everyone or for any occasion. Hope you will come visit us again when visiting loved one and confident they will enjoy their university experience. Thanks for recent visit and feedback.

We stayed in the Lord Nelson while on an overnight trip to Halifax for a medical appointment. The experience with the staff at this hotel began with contacting reservations by email; I had an email exchange with a staff member which was extremely helpful in choosing a room.(The "petite" rooms are inexpensive for Halifax, but they are quite small. We've stayed in them before. This time, we chose a standard room. Both are priced very competitively for the heart of Halifax, especially in tourist season.)

The customer service experience continued at check-in, when we wandered in scruffy and tired after a long drive and were given a room upgrade because our room wasn't ready. The staff, particularly the front desk, bellboys and valets, was first class and treated us like truly valued guests. (We payed a few dollars extra a night for valet parking as the parking garage is a little cramped, but you can park yourself for $19.99 a night.)

The room was really nice, with a little mini-kitchenette with a microwave and mini-fridge. 3 windows in the room made it nice and bright, and it overlooked The Public Gardens next door. Furniture and amenities were modern and the room was spotlessly clean.

Check-out was between 11:00-12:00; the medical appointment we had come to town for was at 11:00. Staff was very accommodating, and we checked out at about 10:30 but were able to leave our car in the parking garage and store our luggage at the hotel (free of charge) until we were finished and ready to leave town.

The hotel is on Spring Garden road, with multiple restaurants, pubs, and lots of shopping all around. It's also only about a 15-20 minute walk to Halifax's famous downtown district.

The staff treated us so well and were so warm and friendly. We will use this hotel again on our frequent trips to Halifax.

Room Tip: If price is the premium consideration, "petite" rooms are quite functional but small. Stan...

Pleased we were able to exceed your expectations. We do offer a variety of rooms from our value rooms "Petit" to large & luxurious suites so something for everyone. Always nice to receive a complimentary upgrade which often is a result of balancing availability or simply to impress someone like you. Hope your medical appointment exceeded your expectations as well and grateful you will come visit us again! Thanks for recent visit and for sharing with others such positive feedback.

Lord Nelson had been recommended to us by a family member and we arrived without a reservation on the first day of the Atlantic Film Festival. The front desk staff were very helpful and offered us either a petite room or suite and allowed us to view both rooms to see if they would be suitable. The suite was perfect - spacious & comfortable. The hotel is located within walking distance of the harbour and the citadel and across from the beautiful public gardens. The staff we dealt with were friendly and offered advice on restaurants as well as directions to different points of interest.

I remember you both and pleased you decided to stay with us. You were also extremely friendly and a pleasure to service. I too would have chosen the suite given price variance since added space & comfort. Hope you enjoyed your time in Halifax and pleased able to enjoy our central location. Please come visit us again and really appreciate the unexpected visit and positive feedback.

We stayed here the first week of August and upon arrival it is a beautiful old hotel. The room we booked was very dated and had a strangely small bed and when we called down to see if we could get an upgrade They were very accommodating and offered us a suite for just $30 extra per night. The suite was much nicer than our original room however the hotel overall still needs updating.

During August 2013 we spent three nights in total at the Lord Nelson at both the start and end of our Canadian holiday. We felt very welcome, both rooms were immaculate, staff very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in prime position opposite the Botanical Gardens and within very easy walking distance of the Halifax waterfront.

Room Tip: Our first room was on 8th floor, second room on 4th floor - this lower room picked up noise from coa...

We stayed at the Lord Nelson for 2 nights in August 2013. The room we had was quite big and the proximity to downtown and the Halifax Pier was great- walking distance. We had our two little kids and a double stroller and 2 big suitcases- no problems fitting in the room. We loved the Aveda toiletries as well. Definitely we will come back and stay here again.
