“Amazing Service”

Our ship, the Royal Caribbean, had removed an 87 yr old traveling friend and I from the ship at the Nova Scotia port. We were left surrounded with our luggage as it sailed away. I had complied with the ship's medical staff and went to the emergency room and was released to sail. They threw us off anyway. The port security took us to the Atlantica to stay for the evening since the airport had no flights back to Pennsylvania. While we were settling into our room a room steward arrived with a tray of big blueberry cookies, a small dish of blueberries and two large bottles of mineral water. Best of all was the handwritten note. The note indicated they knew what distress we were in and their regrets. They hoped our stay at the hotel would assist at making a distressing event better. Later I needed to fax medical information to the insurance company and the front desk went over and above to ensure the information was received in Fla. Another shift, was of such assistance in helping me to acquire plane tickets in order to fly home in the morning. They called all over the US with no charge for me. Finally we left our phone charger in the room and they mailed that to us at no charge. The staff was better than any hotel staff I've ever encountered making a trauma of such a magnitude better. The hotel itself is beautiful and the beds were divine.

We just stayed here for 2 nights over the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend. From the moment we stepped into the hotel, they bent over backwards for us. They informed us that there were two junior sports teams in the hotel during our stay, so without asking, they upgraded us to the top "executive" floor, which was quite quiet. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable as were the pillows, which is rarity. We had a window facing the Halifax Common which was also nice. We enjoyed being a little off the beaten track and wandered around Quinpool Road where we found a couple of interesting restaurants including Jane's, and a great grocery store, but it is a little hike - about 15 min., from downtown for people who want to be in the thick of it. We would definitely stay again. The service was exceptional - thank you Mitchell for everything! - it was reasonably priced and having a great bed and pillows is a huge draw!

The hotel is well situated close to downtown Halifax and all major routes. Check in was pleasant and quick and friends who had booked online a few minutes before we're able to check in straight away. The room was clean however there was no fridge. As we are tea and coffee aholics we always like to purchase milk so we don't go thirsty. The room also did not have a fan in the bathroom which caused it to steam up. Not sure if this was just that it wasn't working kept forgetting to ask. Breakfast was good with a few options and a hot or cold buffet. Do remember if having a hire car parking is 17 dollars plus tax each night. However this is underground and heated and real secure so well worth it.

Hotel was reasonable.. good facilities... good restaurant.. apart from the awful coffee! Weak as water!
Hotel couldn't find my booking at first.. once found they upgraded me to Exec floor which was good of them. Reception guy..Mitchell I think... extremely helpful and a credit to the business.
The location is great for the hospitals in the area (I was visiting at IWK Health) and within easy walking distance of Halifax centre with good variety of shops and places to eat.
Would recommend the hotel if you just want a reasonable place to lay your head

We stayed here for a few days prior to a business conference and thought the location wouldn't matter as much, as we were walking around a fair bit. However, walking from downtown was about 30-35 minutes and walking to most restaurants and pubs was about half that time.

The positives:
- The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant manager always stopped by to say hi and take care of us.
- We upgraded to the "executive" and enjoyed the buffet breakfast. Good value for a variety of fixings.
- The bed was comfortable and room was spacious. As we were traveling with a baby we had made a few requests and everything was set up as requested.

The not-so-positive:
- The air conditioning unit was loud and ran off and on throughout the night. It was very disruptive and made it difficult to sleep well.
- The location was removed and walking to most restaurants and pubs (in the rain) was prohibitive.

Overall an average hotel, where I've been in both worse and better.

I had never stayed here before. I was here for two nights on business. Check in was great. Friendly faces and very helpful. The hotel has a familiar feel to it- some dated 'hotelish' decor. My room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was good, the service excellent with engaging servers and a full wall of windows to watch traffic and pedestrians. All in all it was a good experience and I would recommend it to anyone.

The only thing we didn't like about the Atlantica was the parkade. Our second stay we parked down the road because the hotel's parking is horrible to navigate. We didn't eat at the restaurants. The location is so close to the fun areas that we walked everywhere. And yes, like others have said, the air conditioner/heat does what it tells you to! :)
