I stayed at Cambridge Suites multiple times for both business or pleasure, and everytime, I have been extremely happy with my experiences. The staff is always welcoming and helpful, and the location of the hotel makes it nearly impossible to be disturbed by neighbours (the hotel is on a hill). Amazing experience everytime!!!

My comments are based on years of business travel where, as a client, I am often treated as simply another body filling a bed. I was in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Victoria, Vancouver and Moncton this spring, and I can honestly say that the Cambridge Suites staff put all the others to shame. They are first and foremost, kind people who honestly wish to provide their guests with a home away from home. One of the staff told me last week that she was proud to work at Cambridge Suites because of the quality of people around her. That is the kind of place I want to stay.

You will get value, cleanliness, a great location, and terrific people who will help you with anything if you stay here. ENJOY!

Clean room, nice view of the harbour, friendly and responsive staff.
Most liked the location of the hotel: the Citadelle (hill), spring gardens and its shopping potentiality, the waterfront (sea) and more all are at arm length.

What I liked the least: the night's parking can be difficult. Outside there is not enough parking while the underground one was full past a certain hour.

HI Dazzan and thank you for posting a review. We are one of very few hotels in Halifax that have outdoor parking and underground parking which allows us to accomodate many different sizes of vehicles. Having said that parking can be an issue for us at times when we have many local travellers driving to the city. I am sorry this affected your visit with us and next time just pull up to the front doors and we will deal with finding your vehicle a place to rest over night. Thanks again for staying with us.

Cambridge Suite is well equipped with microwave, fridge, utinsels. The furnishings are modern and up to date. The continential breakfast was good with an average variety of items. The room was clean and the supply of towels was more then sufficent.

We stayed at the Cambridge Suites near Citadel Hill for ten days in July, and found it a very convenient location, close to the Halifax Gardens, most downtown attractions and Citadel Hill. However, it is at the top of a steep slope leading down to the harbor, so while delightful to walk down, it can be laborious to walk up. We mostly took taxis back. Cost is from $5-6 from Lower Water Street to Brunswick, where the hotel is.

Our two well-maintained studio suites (on the only no-pet floor, for those with allergies) had double beds and large windows that gave ample light. Both rooms included a kitchenette--sink, microwave, coffeemaker, dishes, washing materials and tea towels-- a comfortable sofa and chair, and a business desk with computer hook-up and wi-fi. Television, a radio, and a fancy electronic clock I never figured out how to use were also on offer. Altogether the room was pleasant and surprisingly spacious. The bathroom was of adequate size and very clean, with all the amenities hotel guests expect nowadays. Bottled water is available in the room but unfortunately not complimentary. For casual snacks and a few simple groceries i.e.. cans and frozen dinners, there is a kiosk in the lobby next to the reception desk. However, prices are quite high, and there was no milk.

A coin-operated laundromat is situated on the lower floor, and a main-floor restaurant doubles as a breakfast room in the morning for guests (complimentary breakfast included with room cost). Tip: if you prefer to start your day without the company of small children, go down for breakfast earlier than 9 a.m. Families usually arrive a bit later. The breakfast staff was efficient and good humored, threading their way around the movements of guests as they moved from the buffet tables to their breakfast tables. Food was good and plentiful, with both hot and cold cereals, juices, bread and bagels that you toast yourself, hot boiled eggs (a nice treat), fresh fruit, and coffee and tea. My daughter cannot drink dairy milk, however, and there was no milk substitute on offer. Management might look into offering rice or almond milk for those guests who like cereal. And for those who want traditional hot breakfasts and are willing to pay for it, menu items like pancakes and bacon can be ordered.

The top-floor terrace overlooks the harbor on one side and the Citadel on the other, and provides good photo ops. A few tables and chairs are provided, and soft drinks are available from a machine in the fitness room.

The front-desk staff was helpful and attentive to questions and concerns, and helped us book two day tours by Graylines, which picked us up at the hotel. They also keep stamps for sale, make change cheerfully, offer to mail letters, and are helpful with directions. All in all, the Cambridge is a welcoming hotel that I would be happy to stay at again.

...And we would be very happy to welcome you again anytime HarrietM. Thank you for providing so much detail in your review. I have a great strategy for coming back up the hill.......I like to create my own pub crawl and stop in at each watering hole on the way back up to get "re-energized". Thank you for staying with us.

We stayed four nights(28 - 31 Jul) for a convention. Hotel was an easy walk from the convention center as were many restaurants, the fort, and attractions along the harbor. Halifax is a compact town easy to get around by walking if you are reasonably fit. Hotel desk staff were exceptionally helpful from our first calls to get information untill we picked up luggage we left there while we were touring other parts of Nova Scotia. Our room was what I would call average size with comfortable furniture all of which were well maintained. We had a great view of the harbour (What you could see of it. If Halifax allows much more High Rise construction there won't be any view in a few more years).

The morning breakfast buffet was good with a nice selection of items, although it got a little crowded if you arrived with to many other folks. For other meals the restaurant was o.k. with an attentive staff. Just to many other restaurants close by to eat there much.

In a nut shell this is not a posh hotel, but if you are looking for above average acommodations with an excellent staff that is a good value for your money, you've found the right place.
