“Going double digits”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 7, 2010

The stay (celebrating one of our kids turning 10) was okay considering it was a Express version. You can see this in the lack of doors in front of the clothing cabinet, the lack of a lot of amenities such as a full size restaurant, bar, babysitting, etc.

The pool was small and had no toys, slide or anything to entertain the kids (6 and just 10). The hot tub was warm but certainly lacked power in the jet department as only one jet came close to regular power.

The biggest issue however was the total absence of dressing rooms. The whole family had to pile into the bathroom to get changed. This was a very crowded experience and due to the high humidity it was also a very warm one. If we would have at least had bathrobes we could have gone in bathrobe to the pool and didn't need changing rooms. However bathrobes were also not part of the Express package.

The room was good and clean. The only items we want to comment on are the package of sugar, cream, etc. In order to add some sugar to a cup of coffee, you had to open a whole plastic package (wit h cream, sugar, spoon, etc.) which is just not Green enough and could easily be resolved by separate packages. Also the cups were not reusable and individually packaged in plastic, It would have been great to have real glassware. Especially when you use the fridge to cool pop and other drinks, a real glass would have been better, Greener.

The staff was very friendly and to the point.

Breakfast was very good, although a limited choice it had a good range of products making sure everyone would have something to like. Again the staff was fast in replacing empty baskets, etc..

All in all it was an okay visit for the money paid ($108 before tax). However next time we likely spend a bit more to get a more luxurious feel as this (birthday) is a special occasion.

Stayed here for 3 nights and I have absolutely no complaints. We used this hotel as our homebase while visiting Halifax, Peggy's Cove & Lunenburg. Check in was quick, the staff were very courteous and helpful. The beds & pillows were comfortable. The continental breakfast was way more than I expected. There was a lot to choose from and we had no problems finding a table to eat our breakfast at. Coffee & tea were available 24 hours in the breakfast area or there's a Tim Horton's next door.
A great place to stay.

Spent 8 nights with spouse, 11 year old and 14 year old in one of the Kids Suites rooms. As 14 year old wants his own bed I chose the Kids Suites so they could have bunk beds, but the bed was perhaps a bit on the short side for my son (about 5' 6") but that was my own fault.
Stay was excellent. I'm a really light sleeper, but I slept like a log. Even though the hotel was very busy I never heard a thing. Staff were very efficient and friendly, breakfast is included and was more than adequate and the staff are very busy keeping it stocked fresh. Good location for getting downtown, distance from airport, travelling to South Shore, shopping in Bayers Lake. Swimming pool and hot tub area was always very clean and quiet (I used it several times in the morning) and the cleaning staff always seemed very efficient and busy when I saw them. Lovely stay. Very convenient for little strip of shops beside it too. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice Hotel Friendly Staff. Enjoyed the SweetHeats Package with my husband. Good Value. Although it should include Dinner as well! Would stay there again though.

I stayed at this hotel for a vacation with my 3 grown daughters. The first thing that impressed me was the staff. They were friendly, helpful and always professional. Checking in was no problem at all, and we went to our room. The room was clean (there was 2 small stains on the carpet), and the beds were the most comfortable I'd ever slept in, including my own at home. We went to the pool and hot tub area and the pool and hot tub were clean and in good working order. There were plenty of clean towels for guests to use. After a great sleep, we went to the breakfast area. We received a free newspaper every morning which was a really nice touch. The breakfast (which is free) was wonderful all three days we were there. There was alot to choose from including hot items like bacon and eggs and again everything was very clean and kept well stocked. The staff maintaining the breakfast area were friendly with the guests and did a great job. Located next to the hotel was a coffee shop, pizza place (which a staff member recommended the first night and it was really good and affordable) and a convenience store amoung other things. As we didn't have the use of a car we had to rely on taxi's to get to the downtown Halifax area everyday. The staff was always happy to call a cab for us and although the cab was a bit pricey for us (about $25 to get from the hotel to downtown) if you had a car it's only about a 10 - 15 minute drive. We were all very impressed overrall and would definately stay at this hotel again.
