“Nice historic boutique hotel”
Reviewed October 11, 2010

The Halliburton is ideally located in the city centre just a few steps from the harbour. The hotel is in two historic buildings. The rooms are very comfortable. Ours was big enough for 3 persons – there are other rooms which are extremely small. Be careful not to get the rooms in basement level. The service is very friendly and helpful. If you like a small personal hotel I would definitely recommend the Halliburton.

The Halliburton is a lovely historical inn - the rooms are beautifully appointed and there is a nice private back garden with tables & chairs for outdoor relaxation. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was ordinary.... self serve.
Unfortunately our room was very small and located on the second floor, which involved not one but two sets of steep stairs up from the parking lot. As seniors, we found this difficult to maneuver. In addition, we were not located in the main house where the reception and dining rooms are located, so to get ice or use the amenities in the main living room was an onerous trip given all the stairs involved. A saving grace was a private balcony overlooking the garden.
We would definitely stay here again but would make sure we were either in the main house or on the first floor of the other two.

I generally don't appreciate it much when reviewers give "excellent" across the board - seems a bit lazy...but I have to do that in the case of the Halliburton. We've tried other hotels since my daughter attends university in Halifax but wanted a little bit of a boutique hotel feel. This property did not disappoint. Rooms were surprisingly large and very nicely appointed. Breakfast was very good, parking essential and easily accessed, service was exceptional. So with one in 3rd year and another starting next year....The Halliburton will become our "Halifax home" for a few more years yet.

What a hidden gem this place is - Quaint boutique hotel - great location - you can walk anywhere from here. Rooms were terrific - Spacious, clean, furnished in a historic fashion that makes you say OOH - I love it! Cozy back "deck" with garden and fountain create amazing ambiance for great outdoor dining. Restaurant was fantastic - best duck dinner ever!! Room service great - Front desk staff go out of their way to be helpful. This is THE place to stay!

Disappointing given the reviews - but we only stayed one night, in a one-bedroom suite. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent, breakfast was adequate. Helpful, friendly staff, but overall we were underwhelmed.

The Halliburton is "home away from home". Friendly, elegant, delicious food, excellent service, quiet and beautiful rooms, very well located. A place to visit over and over again.
