“Westin...always a winner!”
Reviewed October 5, 2013

We came to this Westin after 6 days of hard driving in order to get to Nova Scotia and it was "Heaven" lying down in this Westin bed. As always the room was clean, nicely appointed, with mini-bar, a robe for comfort, and the blackout curtains that give that excellent sleep! I came here for the comfort and was once again pleased.
Great location at the intersection of South, Barrington, Hollis, and Lower Water Street. On the street behind the Westin is the Halifax Seaport Market and the beginning of the Harbor Boardwalk.
The front desk service was impeccable!
There is Starbucks coffee in the room gratis.
It felt like home away from home!
Only one thing kept this visit from rating a five star which was our call to guest service asking for more coffee that they said would be "right up" that we had to call again for in the morning 9 hours later. A bit inconvenient, but everything else was top notch!
Recommended!!!

Room Tip: Ask for a Harbor view room...usually they reserve them for those who ask! Enjoy!

I have to travel to Halifax frequently, and my new favorite is the Westin. The location is not truly central, but it is not bad either. There are nice harbor views if you ask. Rooms can vary tremendously as this is an old hotel that has had lots of additions over the years. Don't be afraid to ask to change rooms. Thew staff are well trained, helpful, and friendly. The restaurant is about average for a large hotel, nothing to write home about. Staying here on our last vacation trip was enjoyable. The new Halifax market is just across the way and is worth a visit.

I recently travelled for business and stayed 3 nights at the Westin Nova Scotian. What a great experience. The room was clean and fresh and the staff were extremely friendly. I would definitely choose this hotel for all business trips to Halifax.

The Westin is still one of the better hotels in Halifax. Attentive service, good breakfast buffet and really good beds.

Harbour view rooms are best.

One issue this time was that the water in the pool was way too warm ... More like a hot tub !! Not very pleasant to swim in !

Overall though, this is a good place to stay in Halifax.

( I do not usually write reviews or such, but after my experience at the Westin a few weeks ago; I just had to! What a hotel!! The lobby is beautiful, the front desk was impressive and the room was great! Everyone was just so helpful and made our stay excellent! Special thanks to Jessica from guest services (The girl I was talking with for the majority of our stay, who we found out to be from PEI as well) She helped us with great restaurant choices and just provided us with excellent customer service! Many thanks to her and the rest of the staff at the Westin. )

Not very friendly greeting at check-in although check-out was better. The king bedded, marine view room was musty and the carpet was sodden underneath the air conditioning unit. The walls are paper thin and I could hear everything in the room next door, which means they could hear me! Room service was slow, although the food was not bad. There is a coffee bar where you can have business meetings, but the TV and music is set on loud so I had to ask them to turn down the volume, and they grudgingly obliged. Valet parking is $15.00 per day, but during the evening there is no door man, so you have to park the car (if you can) and go into the hotel to ask them for valet parking. I was very disappointed by this hotel, and probably won't return there next time I'm in Halifax!

Room Tip: Don't waste your money in booking a marine view.

We stayed here for one night in July. We are from New Brunswick and just wanted to get away as a family for a weekend. The first thing that appealed me in was that this hotel allows pets. I have a french bulldog who is high maintenance to leave with a sitter and I love to be able to travel with him. The hotel even offers you a complimentary pet-box upon check in which includes a dog bed, blankets, dish & toy. So nice!

The rooms are older but they're very well kept and most importantly they are clean! The staff is great.. the beds were comfortable with soft bedding and the room was quiet at night! The lobby seems to have been remodeled and is nice & modern and this hotel is in an awesome location. There is even a Superstore next door which is perfect for grabbing snacks for the room!

We will be returning next summer!
