This old hotel is transformed into a beautiful modern hotel. It's huge and modern with old touches! The rooms are a fair size, but the bathrooms are a bit small and outdated. But overall it's a fairly good room. The hotel has a bar, Starbucks coffee and a resturant in it! The Hotel is in a good location! It's right across from the Farmers Market and The Warf! It's also close by to some of the most Top Rated Resturants in all Halifax! It's a lovely hotel :)

Hi Lauryn T,

Thank you for writing a review and sharing your feedback with other travelers on TripAdvisor. Our historic hotel is one of the original railway hotels in Canada. We're delighted to hear you had a great stay and enjoyed the upgrades we've completed around the property.

Our location is what differentiates us from other downtown Halifax hotels. It sounds like you enjoyed the convenience to the Farmers' Market and Waterfront.

We look forward to welcoming you back again.
Be well,
Guido Kerpel

Wow, this hotel was really lovely! The layout of the hotel and the wonderful attention to detail given by staff was excellent. I had a room on the 8th floor overlooking beautiful Halifax harbour. What a treat this stay was. I would heartily recommend. Close to everything including supermarket, farmers market, board walk. Stayed here for 6 nights. Yes there was some noise (associated with a wedding), but hey who doesn't make noise at their wedding? Coffee in the room great!
Looking forward to coming back.

Stayed with my wife and infant for 2 nights.

Hotel was conveniently located next to the boardwalk along the waterfront, farmers markets and a grocery store. The room was clean, comfortable and the coffee machine was a necessary comfort.

We would go back.

Stayed here for one night while on vacation using loyalty points. Room was not ready upon my arrival but staff were apologetic and even delivered a gift when I eventually checked in. Hotel was very clean overall. Bathroom was a bit small and the elevators were a bit old (ie slow and for some reason one of them would always stop on the 2nd floor). Fitness facility also contained very new equipment. Breakfast at Elements was also very good - fruits were fresh and a very good selection of breakfast items.

This is a very very old building. The lobby and staff are quite nice. The food in Elements gor breakfast was good. My positive part of the review unfortunately must end now. The thin walls make stay ay this hotel very uncomfortable. Everything in halls and rooms above and below and next to my room was heard. Loud conversations, tv, tiolets etc. I had a harbor view but given how dirty the windows are I kept the privacy screen down. I could still see out but the view improved given the dirt. I dusted the counters of my furniture when I arrived as the dust practically glistened in the sun light. The rooms are small on the Preferred Starwood Guest hall. The toilets seem to flush but I constantly had to reflush. The toilets in lobby washrooms were same - unflushed toilets. The elevators need maintenance and were quite touchy. The temperature in the meeting room was uncomfortable. Too cool, then too warm

My husband and I stayed at the Westin while attending a wedding of a friends of ours. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom was very well lit, a plus for getting ready for an event. The bed was very comfortable with lots of fluffy pillows. Check in and check out was speedy and the staff at front desk were very helpful. The hotel is located on the waterfront and it was very convenient to go for an evening stroll without having to drive. The only negative thing I have to say about our experience was the hotel lounge/bar. We went for a nightcap with friends after attending the wedding and my husband and I had each 2 pina colada's. When we got the bill, it was $52 and some change...that means we paid $13 per drink! Totally outrageous and unexpected! The most I've ever paid for a single drink anywhere is $9.
