This park is a jewel for citizens of Halifax where you can get away from it all & enjoy the natural environment on the edge of Halifax Harbour

“Beautiful park - a hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 20, 2014

We came upon the park by accident and then made it part of our daily ritual, walking around the perimeter and looking at the ocean. It is lovely and well maintained. A great place to walk or jog. Loved it.

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2014

A lovely park - well maintained with easy to walk pathways, points of interest and great views of the harbour approaches.

The only disappointment was that the battery towers were open to the public - we had to content ourselves with walking around them. Still... I definitely recommend a visit if you fancy a scenic stroll in Halifax.

“Nice walking park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2014

Might be a long walk from the city - catch a bus for $2.90 (good for the day). Nice easy walking trails along water, view of light house. No food in park so bring your own. Small old fortress within the park and very small beach (I would not swim in the water). Locals seem to use the park for walking / running.

“This park makes Halifax”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2014

Lovely green area lots of trails just two kilometers from downtown. The walk along Young Avenue through Golden Gates is a great introduction to the park. Young Ave wide boulevard lovely old homes. Park has wide gravel path (3 km around outside) by the water around it. Old forts, first Martello tower (open & free in summer) and active people. Consider buying or taking a sandwich and a drink to sit by ocean or pond near historic park keepers lodge. If you are a runner this place is for you. Been going here for over 30 years and never tire of it.
