“Enjoyed our pit stop”
Reviewed August 27, 2014

We noticed Durty Nelly's on the way to Discovery Center and decided to pop in afterwards. For a Tuesday afternoon it took way too long to get our beers. We ordered the fish bites and the chicken fingers with a tai chili sauces both which were delicious!!! The menu looked really good and I'm sure it would be delicious. We were seated outside which was nice and had a bit of a water view.
We would definitely go back to try the rest of the menu for a full meal.

Great fish and chips and shepard's pie. Halfway between the Citadel and the Boardwalk so a great stop for lunch.

“Best Fish & Chips in Halifax? Who am I to Argue.....”
Reviewed August 23, 2014 via mobile

Friday night in Halifax and a hankering for fish and chips, so off to Dirty Nelly's for Halifax's finest, or so I'been told. They didn't disappoint. My daughter and I each ordered the 2 piece fish and chips. The pieces are only middling size but done right. The haddock was moist with a thin, crisp batter, served with home cut fries that were crisp and golden but not dried out. They bring the, vinegar, malt vinegar and Ketchup to your table. And house made tartar sauce is the perfect accompaniment for the fish. What really sets this meal apart is the home made coleslaw! Now I never would have thought but the flavor was unbelievable. More milky then creamy, but definitely not a vinaigrette, this was superb; I can't place what imparted the flavor but I've never had coleslaw that tasted like this, or as good as this, before.

The service was fast and friendly, and lots of seating inside and out, gets very busy by early evening. A little pricy for a pub but not unreasonable. My only disappointment was the Durty Nelly draught on tap was a Molson product and not from a local microbrewery. It might have been good but surprised that with the number of brews being produced locally in Halifax and Nova Scotia it was from one of the big producers.

“Family dinner 2 out of 2 nights!”
Reviewed August 18, 2014 via mobile

Really great wait staff and food to please a family of five made us go back for a second night!! And they didn't even have a kid's menu. A little pricey but not too bad for a city and quite good when compared with neighboring restaurants (which we did).
