“Good atmosphere and good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

Went here a couple of times on a recent trip. I had the Blackened Chicken Sandwich and tried teh curried fries. Bot very good. Wife had a chowder (which she liked - I thought a bit bland), and the Salmon on Cedar Plank (looked like Cedar Shims to me). SHe loved the Salmon, which is good enough for me. Good selection of pints, and reasonably price bottle of Malbec $33. Spent $115 on our first night for the meal and 2-3 drinks, and got the same meal Sunday night for about $93. Think we had less to Drink, but still included share of the wine, and couple of pints of Rickets Red. Overall, would recommend. Very lively crowd and a decent live band on Friday night. Pretty quiets on Sunday, as might be expected. We had several great meals in Halifax on the weekend. See my reviews.

“A Great Irish Pub to eat at.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 4, 2012

Out for a walk in Downtown Halifax and dropped into Durty Nelly's across from Neptune Theatre around 3PM. They offered a full menu - we started with a plate of Nachos with a side of Taco meat. They came quickly and were crisp, fresh tortilla chips covered with cheese, peppers, red onions and more. I had the pan fried haddock covered with dill sauce, savory mashed pototes and fresh veg. My granddaughter and daughter-in-law split a chicken pot pie that was creamy full of chicken and veg. My 6yr old grandson had hand made chicken strips, they were huge and crispy. The interesting thing about the menu is a lot of the items are stand alone, it you want fries you have to order them and they come in a little fry basket. The main items are very large and you can do with out the sides or just split one side. All the items we ordered were excellent as was the service. Our total meal came in at $70 tax in. My grandson got a kick out of the fry baskets and 3 TVs in the washroom. A safe and fun place to eat with the family (in the afternoon that is). There is no children's menu.

“Excellent pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

Even though Durty Nelly's is known as a pub, I have to say their food was excellent! The presentation was beautiful, the biscuits with the chowder were yummy, the service was friendly and casual, and even though we weren't drinking, we didn't feel like we were being rushed. Nice touch
