“Not To Be Overlooked By Tourists”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

This neighbourhood restaurant is a great find for visitors to Halifax especially by those who want good food at an attractive price. It is located in Halifax's south end on Inglis Street (just around the corner from near the end of Barrington St. and very close to the popular Westin Hiotel. At first glance one might be put off by the plain interior. However, what it lack in fancy decor is more than made up for by excellent Italian dishes and friendly service. the basically Italian menu includes superb calamari and delicious large rice balls. Pizzas are great, and the variety of pasta dishes include such favourites as Asian Noodle, Red Curry Chicken and Blackened Striploin and Noodles. (These are large and could be shared. Plus, the pastas come with fresh bread and soup of the day or salad. I always pay a bit more for the Ceasar Salad which I think is one of the City's best. Wines are inexpensive. Weekends might be quite busy. Reservations are desirable. There is also a takeout menu.

We were staying in Halifax for the evening and after reading all sorts of places to go fir good italian.. We were not disappointed. We walked from our hotel and Vinnies was in a neighborhood, small but busy for a Tuesday night! Elizabeth brought us bread immediately after she took our drink order. It was do delicious and made in house! Salad is also included.. My son had caesar .dressing also made in house.. Wonderful! Lasagna was huge as well as the linguini and mestsauce . This was the best meal we had while travelling! If youre looking for some great italian and youre in Halifax.. This is the place to go.. Hands down!! Fresh pasta..dressings.. Bread! Great job!!

“Great Food Reasonable Prices Excellent Service”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

First impressions are usually pretty good indicators of how the overall experience will be, we arrived at Vinnie's and we were 2nd of three couples waiting to be seated. The lady assured us that in 5-10 minutes we would have a table. She was right and we explained we were on a tight schedule, no problem our waitress said. We shared an Appi the Calamari and it was the best we have ever had in the city. The sauce was spicey and the Calamari cooked to perfection. I had the Seafood Pasta and it was excellent wtih plenty left over to take home. My wife had the Garlic Penne and it was a little on the bland side but to be fair, we use lots of Garlic and this was probably suited for those not so inclined.
we were all done and out of there in 30 minutes (our choice) we will go back.

“Reasonably priced and very good pasta!”

Hidden gem in the south end but well worth the extra few blocks. Unpretentious but tasty beyond its simple decor, Vinnie's is popular with locals for a reason - THE FOOD!!

“Best in Halifax”
Reviewed December 30, 2012

My wife and I tend to like little out of the way restaurants. This one certainly fit the bill. Walking past, you would be forgiven for not noticing it. But when you enter, you're glad you did. Each of their meals are made to order, and are well worth the money. The best one (in my opinion) is the garlic chicken pasta. The place does have dishes other than pasta, but I haven't been able to pull myself away from the pasta to try them! Each serving comes with a nice warm loaf of bread, as well as a salad (this might just be for the pasta dishes, as I mentioned). Good servings.

Overall, a good pasta place if you're in the city and want something that isn't a chain. Someplace where they put effort into each dish. You'll like it.
