I went to the Red Stag last night with a large group for a private function. Adam and his staff did a fantastic job accommodating our group. Food was delicious and staff very friendly.
I will be back next time in Halifax. I recommend the chicken nachos and any of the burgers, everyone enjoyed their meals.

All the staff here were quite knowledgeable of the city's attractions and the service was great! The burgers might be the best in the city,

Four of us paused during our walking tour of the Halifax harbour to take a break at the Red Stag Tavern. Not only was the red amber ale refreshing, the fish and chips were outstanding. As has already been pointed out by others - not a speck of grease on the plates and both the fish and chips melt-in-the-mouth done. I normally prefer halibut, but I'd stop for Keith's haddock anytime!

Stopped to check out the cool restored building of the Brewery and opted for lunch at their Tavern. Had the best Fish & Chips I have ever eaten. Fresh haddock, lightly beer battered and fried to perfection ... absolutely no grease on the plate and the fish perfectly done. I opted for the sweet potato chips while by bride had the traditional chips. We tried a taster of four of the current brews from a mocha dark ale to a very light that had the taste of an IPA. A great meal, great setting and wonderful service.

I visited this pub recently.

It's located inside the building that houses the original Alexander Keith's Distillery.

Lights are dim, the decor is charming and the bartender wears a kilt!

We had the opportunity to try a limited editon pale-ale that had been brewn right next door in the old plant. The size of the distillery limits the current use to this type of runs in which they're trying to create new formulas and brew a few barrels that are served in The Red Stag.

A must if you're in downtown Halifax!
