“"An Amazing B & B"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 12, 2013

After getting off the ferry in Digby on a rainy Saturday afternoon, we stopped at the tourist information center and inquired about B & B's in the area. The Harbourview Inn was one of the B & B's suggested in the area. What a wonderful choice! Our stay there was absolutely amazing. Darren made us feel as if we were at home. He made suggestions about places of interest to see in the area and recommended restaurants. Our room was immaculately clean, beautifully decorated and the bed was so comfortable. Vance's breakfasts were so good and varied. AND we enjoyed chatting with Irene during breakfast. Darren and Vance are excellent hosts. It is our all time favorite place!

Stayed for three nights in the Winchester House, rooms 20 and 22. I'm not normally a B&B person but if I have to stay in one, Harbourview is as near to ideal as can be. The staff are very warm and welcoming and did make the stay that more enjoyable, the rooms are well maintained and comfortable. I was a touch disappointed with the location of the Winchester House in that it was located right beside an arterial road. The road really wasn't that busy so no huge deal but I would have preferred a closer connection to the water, as was enjoyed by the main Inn building. However, the space afforded by the Winchester suites was good as we had more than two occupants in each.

Breakfast was simple, but varied and tasty. The grounds of the Inn were well-maintained and the Bay of Fundy a short stroll away, as was the outdoor pool and playground. Smith's Cove is just a short drive to Digby with its delightful array of restaurants.

And, of course, the resident mascot, Rosie, was a delight. Would definitely stay here again and fully recommend it for a visit to this part of beautiful Nova Scotia.

Found this place on trip advisor. All the reviews were favorable so we gave it a try. We are so glad we did. The room was clean and spacious, the staff welcoming. Walk to the pool or the beach and watch the tide come in or out. Darren was happy to recommend local eating and sight seeing places with his opinion and the feedback from other guests. Breakfast is homemade and you can sit and enjoy the birds right outside the window. The servers are friendly. It was a lovely inn, we stayed for two nights and would highly recommend.

Room Tip: We had a room air conditioner that we did not use but opened the windows for fresh air. We faced out...

We arrived on a chilly, damp afternoon after a long drive, feeling slightly disheartened as the weather was definitely not the 'holiday' type. On arrival we were greeted warmly by Darren, who gave us lots of advice regarding where to eat, (and more importantly what time the restaurants closed),trips to take and explained all the amenities of the inn. He also introduced us to Rosie the Harbourview's very cute wee dog, who is the real star of the show. He then showed us our room, which was beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It had a lovely view overlooking the well tended garden and we could also see the sea. The bathroom had a great shower and lots of nice toiletries - all in all our room definitely ticked all the boxes.
After a great night's sleep breakfast was served and what a breakfast it was; lots of variety - we stayed five nights and had a different choice of breakfast every day. Vance serves up breakfast and his restful, calm manner was a great way to start the day. Like Darren, Vance is excellent at making recommendations for trips and places to eat. Every recommendation we took up was fabulous, these guys really do their homework.Breakfast was plentiful, wholesome, freshly cooked and absolutely delicious, really set us up for a day of sightseeing and hiking. Even better there was a different selection of homemade jams every morning, made by Darren, and which you could purchase if you wanted to take home a 'foodie' souvenir. We left with two jars which did make it all the way back to London undamaged!
The inn has a small bar with a pretty good selection of beers, wines and spirits. We opted to have a drink in the comfort of the covered verandah each evening. As the season hadn't really started the inn was fairly quiet, so Darren joined us of an evening and we had some really good chats - our evenings with him and Rosie were one of the highlights of our trip.
We were able to book a whale watching trip from Brier Island through the inn. Vance phoned ahead to check that the trip would be going ahead and having confirmed that it was, booked our places. This allowed us to take a leisurely drive down to the island without the need to rush - this is a great service for a small place.
We would definitely recommend the Harbourview. It is a ten minute drive from Digby, so really convenient. It is in a lovely location and is stylish without being pretentious. Darren and Vance are excellent hosts who really go the extra mile to make sure their guests are happy. Thanks guys you made our holiday.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the actual house rather than in the wing

What can I say...Excellent. It was truly a delight to stay at this lovely Inn. We were booked in for one night and decided to stay for two we enjoyed it so much. Darren and Vance are two lovely people who truly look after you and nothing is too much trouble. They booked our Whale watching trip and also found us B&B's for our next two nights. They gave us so much information about the trip we were doing and which routes to take it was extremely helpful. Darren always offered us a cup of tea or coffee after our days out, it was lovely sitting on their porch drinking our tea and relaxing. At breakfast we enjoyed watching the birds and chipmunks on the feeders. We actually changed the end of our trip so we could go back and stay another two nights. Rosie is such a delightful little dog and a favourite with everyone. We were sorry to leave Harbourview and hopefully we will return.

This is a beautiful B&B. We stayed in the Winchester House. Darren was so friendly and helpful - a great delight to talk to. We enjoyed Rosie's company as well. Unfortunately due to weather we weren't able to go whale watching. The trip to Digby was well worth it for the Digby scallops!
