“Great Food, Fabulous Deserts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

Went twice during our stay in Digby. Had Smoked Haddock the first night. Very good. Remided me of my Grandmothers. Second night had scallops and lobster. Good food at a reasonable price. The homemade deserts are excellent - Apple pie and Cheesecke.

“OK, But Nothing Special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 7, 2012

Yes, the food is homemade and is pleasant to eat, but it is also rather bland and somewhat lacking. We had some seafood chowder, which was mostly potatoes and haddock. The chowder we had a a nearby restaurant the next day (Mariner's Landing) was much, much better - full of fish, clams, scallops, and lobster.

The main courses were also lacking. The seafood stirfry had tasty fresh vegetables, but lacked much in the way of seafood or sauce (three shrimp, one piece of lobster, some scallops). The lobster tail and scallops dinner was OK, but the lobster wouldn't come out of the shell because it was overcooked. The scallops, though, were excellent!

If you are interested in carrot cake, however, then definitely have it here.

Overall, I'm surprised to see this rated as the #2 restaurant in Digby. I'd rate it behind Mariner's Landing and the Shore Line.

Tasty sandwiches, interesting menu with many home cooked items, pleasant wait staff, absolutely decadent lemon meringue pie, very clean.

“The best in Digby”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

We were disappointed to see that it was shut on Monday and Tuesday evenings but decided to go there for brunch on Tuesday instead. Not really brunch food but the lunch was fantastic. We were there within 10 minutes of it opening at 11.00am and within half an hour it was full. The scallops were huge and plentiful and cooked to perfection, the chicken pot pie melted in the mouth. The puddings were also fabulous, home made strawberry and rhubarb pie, was sweet and sharp at the same time....heavenly bliss. All great value too. Wish we could have eaten there twice to have explored the menu further.

“Gem in Digby”

Exceptional homemade pies, very friendly service, great view of the scallop fleet, and wi-fi. Far better than the restaurant next door.
