My wife and I very much enjoyed an excellent dinner this evening. While enjoying a drive in the area, we decided to try a local restaurant on short notice. We were able to get a quick reservation on short notice; this just so happened to be the only opening for the evening and also the first dinner. They have a fixed price four course dinner with a reasonable amount of selection - four seafood, a shrimp, halibut, salmon and scallop; two meat, a pork and beef; lobster; and vegetarian choices. We had the scallop and salmon that both excellent. We also selected the fresh tomato soup and mussels with tomato sauce that were both excellent. The salads were both excellent - pear with blue cheese, as well another. Surprises were: the bread, pate and humus that was excellent: the lemon/blueberry sorbet with vodka that was tasty andrefreshing. The excellent desserts we selected were the bread pudding with fresh made caramel sauce and the plentiful serving of blueberry crisp. The only disappointment was that I noticed our servings of the sorbet were noticeably smaller than quests at near table. Service was prompt and courteous.

I made reservation a week ago based on the great things I read about Mag Pyes. We enjoyed a wonderful meal at the restaurant. They truly want you to enjoy your dining experience and did not rush you out. During our meal, there were 3 other parties served and I believe only one table turned over during the 2 hours we were there. The staff was so friendly and the meal was great. All 4 in our party raved about the meal. The appetizer pate and hummus was delicious followed by the best tomato soup I have ever had. It was thick and flavorful more like a bisque than a soup. I then had a scallop cerviche followed by lobster served in a ginger lime broth. Wow. The side dishes were great also. I rolled out of MagPyes after a bread pudding with caramel sauce. Portions were very generous, but I somehow finished it all. Nothing buy high praise for this lovely spot.

We just left dinner at Magpyes, and can't agree more with the review written
Last night. We had the prix fixe menu that featured, in,our case, fish chowder, scallop ceviche, seared scallops, and dessert. Each course was prepared simply, with a creative touch that included a touch of hot, sweet or spice, and the portions were perfect. Loved the blueberry lemon sorbet to cleanse our palate before the main course. Chef Maggie, her husband Tony, waitress Gabrielle and sous chef Vicki ,made this dinner a memorable and delectable event for us!!When in Digby, don't miss it!! In fact, go to Digby for Dinner at Magpyes!

One of our favorite parts of staying at Tony and Margaret's Bed and Breakfast (Holdsworth House) was the included breakfast at Mag Pyes. This was not only the best breakfast we've had at a B&B, but the best breakfast we've had in years! My wife had the omelet with scallops both mornings. I had French toast with blueberries one morning and pancakes with blueberries the next morning with a side of sausage. Everything was home-made (including the sausage) and very tasty! We got wonderful blueberry muffins to go on both days and loved those as well.

Tony and Margaret are a lot of fun to talk with and we felt like they were with old friends. One of our favorite parts of vacation is to eat at local restaurants and this tops our list! Our only regret was not making it to dinner while we were in the area. The breakfast was so incredible so we knew the dinner would be great as well.

What a delectable surprise awaits anyone eating here along the waterfront in Digby, Nova Scotia! Whatever they have on their menu will be delicious and different. Owners Margaret and Tony have the best recipes for success whether it's for breakfast or dinner. Their small, intimate cafe restaurant is delightfully decorated with local artworks (paintings and little hooked rugs) and fresh bakery items and fine china teacups. It's bright and cheery and has the best view of the water. We ate breakfast here 4 days in a row and had their 3 course fixed prix dinner one night. The food is amazing! They even brought some unexpected touches like a delicious fresh blueberry sorbet to cleanse our palate between dinner courses, and the local paper at breakfast. We loved that.
If you are in Digby, be sure to make Mag Pyes your first stop for a wonderful meal.
