I ate here twice.. the first and last..... i am a fan of good fish and chips and i think i have tried just about everywhere... and this is definately the worst fish i have ever tried. They claim that their fish is fresh... an outright lie as i am from a fishing community and i know fresh fish... when i confronted the owner/manager he got upset and said i must of gotten the tail end of the fish as this part is not as tasty as the body.. well i just about lost it... another lie ...he never appologized or offered to give us a better portion... if indeed we got the bad end of the fish. just a warning to anyone who expects good foor and good service at Sams.

Have been meaning to visit here since it opened. I went in to the Baker Drive location with uncertain expectations based on some of the reviews I had seen, but having heard that the management of this location had changed thought it was worth a try. The place is comfortable, and had a pretty good ambiance. Was greeted quickly by staff and asked what sort of seating we'd like - there are booths and tables. The menu is huge, and there was a big board of specials. The prices are remarkably low, most suppers in the $10-13 range.

Despite all the seafood choices, I ordered a 12 ounce steak with baked potato, veggies and a side of fried onions. The steaks are pub style, and this one was great for that, served medium rare as requested, and cheap at $14. Lots of fried red onions came on the side. The potato was fine.

My wife wasn't very hungry and ordered a nacho platter for $8, which included sour creme. Huge portion and lots of fresh cut veggies including banana peppers. They could have broiled the nachos a bit more, as the cheese wasn't all melted.

My daughter ordered pan fried atlantic salmon for $13. Rather than veggies she opted for fries. Surprisingly there were two big but thin filets, lightly breaded with good seasoning, and pan fried. Was perfectly cooked, and very tasty. She could only eat half, so was able to take home a full meal's worth. They now use hand cut fries here, and they are delicious. Far better than the frozen that most places serve.

Overall I was impressed. Low prices and huge portions, with friendly service throughout. Not fancy, but fits the bill for value and location. Will definitely go back!

A family style restaurant located in Russell Lake, Dartmouth. You should check out the daily specials before opening the menu. I picked the steak special for $10.95. The meal came with a starter "Tomato Parmesan soup", a 10oz steak, baked potato, mixed vegetable and coleslaw. The steak was juicy and tender done to my liking. The baked potato was hot with lots of butter and sour cream. Desert consisted of jello or rice pudding. My friend had liver and onions and really enjoyed it. The server was very attentive and helpful.
Their food is mostly made from scratch and the plates are filled to the brim. Agreat place to enjoy a home style meal and not break the bank.

Used to go regularly for fish chips, and since they have expanded.....restaurants have a tendency to produce very greecy fish and chips....the chips and fish are fried in the same oil and you can taste the oil....which one shouldn't be tasting. There are much better places for fish and chips.
