“Consistency & value”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Normally I avoid fried foods but when I want seafood, clams, scallops, haddock tips etc, we head to Sam's orginal location on Main St. Dartmouth. We've tried the newer location at the Crossing and found it not to our liking. But the orginal Sam's shows consistency for food, service and value.

Large portions, great specials and plenty of options beyond fried. Salads are good and they are always willing to make simple changes at request.

And its especially nice to go to a place where no matter how long inbetween our visits the waitress remembers and welcomes our return.

“Service with a Snarl”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

Attended for brunch on a recent Saturday. After being met at the door by an unsmiling waitress, we were directed to a booth next to a pile of extra chairs on the open side. We were welcomed by another somewhat harried, but more pleasant, waitress. There was a variety of standard brunch combinations, omelets, etc. on offer, as well as a lunch menu- which wasn't shown to us. After try to order a spinach omelet without success, my companion settled on a Greek one and I had the 4.99 special with three sausages, hashbrowns and toast. Upon arrival, my over-easy eggs very found to be still raw in the middle. These were returned to the kitchen and replaced a few minutes later with some better cooked substitutes by the other, grumpy server.

The food is okay overall, but the service is sub-par. Our own server didn't check back on us until closer to the end of the meal, when the coffee was topped up. Waited a fair time before the bill was produced. There was no attempt to make up for the raw egg inconvenience and no adjustment on the bill. The specials are a good deal but other items are pricey for the kind of place this is.
