The developers have tried to create a pedestrian friendly village style area in the middle of a sprawling network of roads linking national chain stores, box stores and discount stores. I do not particular enjoy shopping so I usually drive to the store I want to visit, look at what I want and drive away. Normally I do not visit the village area because the stores do not interest me.

I usually go to Dartmouth Crossing for my shopping but I often think about how difficult it would be for people without a car and/or disabled. Everything is so spread out that it's not easy to walk around to various stores unless you are in the "Village" section.

Has a similar feel/look to the premium outlets in the states. Some of the stores in the village shops area are outlet stores (not really outlet prices though). Good selection of stores and a very nice area to walk through. The rest of the stores in the are are big box and need to drive to them by car.

Dartmouth Crossing is one of the newer shopping/business areas in Halifax/Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It is near Mic Mac Mall, a long time popular shopping area, and also near the Burnside Industrial Park.

If you want to avoid most of the city traffic, Dartmouth Crossing is the place to go in the capitol city area, also known as HRM (Halifax Regional Municipality).

It has numerous shopping areas with lots of specialty stores where you can park and walk from shop to shop.

However Dartmouth Crossing is very large, with lots of main stream retailers such as Walmart, Canadian Tire, Staples, Future Shop, Costco and so on. You can get a detailed list of all retailers by searching Google.

The downside of this is that the big name stores are separated by vast distances, too far to walk. So be prepared to drive from one place to another. There is plenty of parking everywhere, so finding a spot is easy.

The usual fast food outlets are available, a multi-screen movie theatre, hotels, restaurants and other convenience features. There is even an easy connection to Shubie park where you can take a leisurely stroll along some nature trails.

You can spend most of the day there if you are planning on visiting a variety of stores and specialty shops. It is under constant expansion with plans to get even bigger each year. (¯`·._.·ns¢ävË·._.·´¯)

This outdoor mall has many great stores, is easy to get around (by car) and has many fun, good eating establishments as well as a large theatre complex. This set up is particularly good if you just want to go to one or two stores and you can usually just park right outside your chosen location. It is much easier then dealing with downtown traffic etc.
