The food was fantastic. A lot of time and thought went into the meal....it was prepared perfect. Wonderful ambience!!! I have to eat here again

I've eaten here on a number of occasions while travelling to Sydney for business. I've found the food at this restaurant to be excellent with very good service.

The food was okay, what you'd from a hotel chain. We had pasta sauce was bland and pork chops....too we'll done. Staff very accommodating.

Unlike the excellent hotel, in which it is located, Trio's food was poor. The exception was the seafood chowder which was terrific and of the very best taste. Both our main courses were poor, with the fish pie a complete non event and the battered haddock had very unpleasant batter, just as the tempura prawns had in the starter. The chips were the worst we encountered on our Canadian trip so far.
The service was excellent though and the staff very friendly, but the chef could do much better given the seafood locally.

Dear HabLeaf,

Thank you for your review following your dining experience. I want to respond to your review. Our menu is currently changing, and the seafood pie has been replaced with a wonderful local halibut entree that is sure to please both our community and hotel guests fining in trio. The fish batter is made fresh each meal service, with natural haddock loins dipped in our Rickard's Red beer batter "fresh" for every order. Trio takes pride in an 85% scratch kitchen as we like to prepare and serve our food as fresh as possible. Our company purchases seafood from very established suppliers, including local vendors. I sincerely appreciate the opportunity for feedback as it provides a chance improve our guest dining experience.

We love the food here, but my one gripe is this:

We really enjoy eating here, great food, nice staff, nice atmosphere BUT - every time, and I mean every time (weather it is for lunch or dinner) at least 1/2 of the tables (and always the choicest available) are "RESERVED". The last time we went there, just to prove a point, I took note of the time we arrived and how many of these tables actually had guests arrive for them. Guess what, not one customer arrive for these table. 7 tables remained unoccupied for almost 2 hours while we were there. They even turned people away saying they had no available tables at the time. Can anyone tell me what this is all about? We have company coming from Germany and would like to take them for some fine dining, but no way do we want to perched out in the middle of a large diningroom, while the best tables remain empty.

Thank you VERY much for bringing this to our attention. This is a very important business point in generating revenues. Trio takes reservations for our community and hotel guests on a daily basis. This feedback is very much appreciated from a business perspective as it's our standard to take reservations, however, we do like to make EVERY effort possible to accommodate our guests whenever possible. Kindly call me as I would be more than happy to reserve what you consider the best seat in the house for you and your guests from Germany.
