This restaurant is consistently fantastic. I have gone here for years and years and have never had a poor meal. Consistency is the key. Their food is fresh, much of it local, their ambiance is lovely -though tables are close together. Mark Gabrieau is an incredibly talented chef, there is no doubt. You will never have a bad experience there.

We have ate at Gabrieaus a few times in the past year and have been pleased with the food and service. I dont think we have been disappointed yet. One of the waiters is a little uppity and makes us feel a little uncomfortable but is pleasant enough, the rest are great. I would recommed this to anyone coming to town or for a nice night out. One thing we didnt like is that the dining room is a little crowded, tables are close together. We like a little privacy. Desserts are to die for!

Have eaten here 3 times in the past year or so, basically every time I get to Antigonish. I must say, it deserves the reputation it has. Just this week rushed in to get two pastas for take-out which were both delicious (chicken penne and sausage linguini). The linguini had some kind of fresh green herb scattered throughout which added a zest, and the sausage tasted fresh and delicious..slightly sweet. There were cherry tomatoes which were bursting with sweetness and juice. Had lunch here earlier and the year and the salad and sandwich I ordered was also excellent. It is hands down the best (only) option for creative, healthy, flavorful cuisine in town...I've searched, trust me. The next best option is in New Glasgow, The Bistro, downtown.

after long planning and arranging we were disappointed with Gabrieaus. A few little things like some of our meals were either just luke warm or cool. Meat was very dried out and tough. Wine service was pitiful....had to get up out of our chair to find someone to bring us another bottle of wine, even though we had told them when one was empty, to immediately bring a 2nd bottle. We had to pour our own wine, as no one seemed to be around when it was needed. Asked for coffee and it got forgot about....Presentation on the plates was good but for the price the quantity and quality was not acceptable. Too bad really...meal cost over $400 for 7 people.

Make time to eat lunch or dinner here. And if you can't eat, at least salivate over the menu. The chef has created a luxurious dining experience at very reasonable prices. Frankly, we didn't expect a small town in central Nova Scotia to have the best food we ate in Canada during our two week vacation. This restaurant is a touch of French with a blend of Indian and Canadian influences, all excellently prepared. The specials for the evening included a tomato-strawberry chilled soup (amazing) and the seafood curry was exceptional. The cheese course was wonderful, as was dessert. It's right on main street only a few blocks from the university. There's free parking in the back. Go there.
