The bed in our room was so worn out you felt like you were sleeping in a hammock. They had put a pad of some kind on it ,so they obviously know.
Only one side table on one side of the bed so my water glass had to be put on the floor.
They had a TV in the room ,but no listing of the channels so it was an adventure to even find the weather.
The bathroom is across the hall which should not have been a problem but the doors to the room was so hard to open my wife had to use 2 hands and all her weight to open it and all the hinges on the floor we were on squeeked. Is WD40 not available in Antigonish? All night when anyone on our floor got up to use the washroom "SLAM, SLAM, SLAM"!
At breakfast I asked the young server for an extra egg, well she looked so panicked when she said she would have to ask, I told her to forget it.
As we sat and ate 6 people wwere waiting to get in the dining room because it was full. They sat on the stairs and watched us eat, making for one very uncomfortable meal.
And to check out the server in the dining room just told everyone to leave the keys to their room on the front desk! No one there to ask about our stay or to say thanks and good bye.

Good day and thank you for letting us know how your evening at the Inn was unfortunately not meeting your expectations. Of course your response is our shame in a sea of positive responses we typically witness; so I assert that much of this comes as an alignment of bad things happened at your stay.

Regarding the television; I highly recommend any guest that is having problems with the TV and menu to please ask the guest services to assist you in finding the menu for the television.

Door resistance is established as a measure for meeting the fire code. The swing in temperatures that occur in the fall make adjustments difficult to keep up with and it is important (as per fire code) that the door completely close on its own. Judging by your sardonic comment with the WD40 reference indicates that you were not in a great mood at the time you completed this scathing assessment of the Inn; and for that we are sorry. The third floor rooms are our most economical rooms as the space on the third floor required that the washrooms could not be en-suite (specifically two of three rooms on the third floor) to facilitate the need for an emergency exit (again meeting the fire code).

The concept of people waiting to be seated at a restaurant is not uncommon in my experience. As for sitting on the stairs; we do have some seating in the lobby and everyone is welcome to relax in there room while the other guests finish eating; I have witnessed many people stay and carry on conversations in the lobby; I am sorry that the collection of people in the lobby (that is where the stairs are located) was an uncomfortable experience. Adding of an egg to your order; perhaps the server felt your displeasure and the look she gave was one of concern; I do not know for certain, but I have received many complements of how the staff rise to the occasion during the recent hurricane and assisting guests in medical distress.

Responding to this review identifies that we could make improvements for certain and we shall endeavour to do so.

Walkable to town and many restaurants, this Inn has a wonderful location. We stayed in the Garden Cottage which was spacious and quiet. Breakfast was very good, but portions could be larger. It would have been nice to have a fruit bowl to augment the meal. Would stay here the next time we pass through.

We had reserved our room here months ago as part of an East Coast tour and the date of our stay coincided with the arrival of Hurricane Dorian. As a result, we did not have electricity during our stay but the staff tried their hardest to make sure we were as comfortable as possible. A testament to the comfort of the bed and the room are the fact that I slept soundly through the storm.

This place is walking distance to some nice local restaurants and pubs. Our room was just off the lobby with private entrance which made it convenient but a bit noisy. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was very good and they had plenty of choices. I would recommend this place.

Lovely home, great breakfast, close to all amenities, the bed was so comfortable and the breakfast more than enough to skip lunch! Knowledgeable hosts and close enough to Cape Breton, Pictou and the ferry to PEI.

Thank you for noticing! Often people don't recognize this important vantage point. As you indicated we are also located downtown (close to all amenities); catching a dinner is a short walk.
