On our way to Cape Breton, we spent a night at the Evergreen Inn in Antigonish. It's about a kilometer out of town, and when you drive in you think, this is it? (it's only eight rooms). But what a wonderful place to stay--the rooms are very clean, quiet, and roomy, with small kitchenettes--not that you need to cook, because the breakfast is wonderful: fresh-baked scones and muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, etc. There's a laundry facility for those who have been on the road for a long time and an amazing selection of DVDs to choose from (each room has a DVD player). My only regret, as we left, was that we weren't going to spend more time at the Evergreen Inn!

Although it has beautiful little gardens and looks more well-kept than most, from the roadside, you might think this is just another drive-up motel. You might consider it more heavily than the others because it promises a continental breakfast included in the rate. But when you enter the check-in area, you start to realize this is so much more than your average motel...

I stayed at the Antigonish Evergreen Inn and was floored by the attention to detail in my gorgeous room. Not only was the queen bed covered in a sumptuous duvet, but there was an actual robe and slippers waiting for me in the tastefully decorated bathroom. The whole room looks like they had assistance from an interior decorator in choosing the colours and patterns. As a former St. F.X.U student, I especially appreciated the framed photographs of the university on the walls. The huge picture window overlooks the Antigonish countryside but there are nice, heavy drapes you can also pull for privacy. There was also a kitchenette and a large wooden armoire, both of which would have been appreciated for longer stays I'm sure. I was only there overnight. I did however, thoroughly enjoy the so-called "continental breakfast" the next morning before check-out. The breakfast area in the main reception is cozy and welcoming and I was able to chat with a couple of other travellers over coffee. Continental doesn't seem to do the breakfast justice since every items was homemade and freshly baked right there on-site. There were muffins, scones, and several different types of fluffy biscuits with butter and homemade jam. There was also a selection of yogurt and fruit and I was encouraged to take some for the road! I would highly recommend this Antigonish property to any kind of traveller staying in Antigonish. It's the perfect retreat from which to enjoy the town and surrounding areas. I completely agree with all of the travellers who rated it top-notch. Lynn and her staff really go out of their way to ensure you are comfortable and well looked-after, and that's something all of us can appreciate!

Room Tip: I didn't see any of the other rooms but I don't think you could go wrong with any of them. T...

This is just a little motel but it couldn't be any nicer. Had the atmosphere and feeling of a Bed and Breakfast, but with more amenities. The room was immaculate, laundry facilities available, fridge, stove, etc. in room. Lots of little extras...slippers, bathrobe, honor system for little basket of snacks and soft drinks (prices suggested were AMAZINGLY low..$1 for a bag of chips!). Couldn't ask for a better value!

The Evergreen Inn is a wonderful home away from home for any traveler! The room was so clean and beautifully decorated. The beds were comfortable and the inn was quiet, enabling one to get a good night's rest. The staff was helpful; when my daughter had problems with our internet service, she came over to our room and assisted in our connecting to the service. I highly recommend the Evergreen Inn. You will not be disappointed.

Beautiful rooms, totally updated and equipped with fridge, stove and microwave. Paper by the front door each morning and always greeted with a warm welcome from staff and owner Lynne. Stayed here for two weeks and never felt more like home. I would recommend to anyone for a place to stay in Antigonish. Thanks again Lynne and see you next year!

I couldn't get over the excellent condition of these hotel-style rooms, complete with a full kitchen, beautiful (and clean) laminite floors, flat screen tv with free rental movies (at desk) and spacious bathroom. I've stayed twice since January 2013. Originally recommended by a local dental surgeon, I have since recommended to my office and we've stayed for business as well. Why go to an aging hotel when you have this family-run inn that offers just as much. (They were very obliging with breakfast, although we ended up not taking them up on their various offers.)

I was really impressed with the self sufficiency and cleanliness of the rooms and very nice washrooms as well. I really liked the fact that they had a robe and slippers as well because I forgot mine...The staff was very friendly and very willing to help with anything. The breakfast was a treat with the home made goodies and fruit along with the great coffee and conversation. I had a wonderful stay and would recommend it as THE place to stay in Antigonish; very down home friendly.
