“Many happy returns”
Reviewed June 17, 2008

Second visit in two consecutive years!

Service, welcome and facilities every bit as superb as last year,
perhaps even slightly better :-)

Would recommend this Inn to anyone who likes superb surroundings and wonderful breakfasts with great hosts.

Paul & Maureen.

I really enjoyed my visit at Hillsdale House. Paul and Val are very warm hosts/innkeepers. The Inn has beautifully decorated rooms and the sense of history is very real. Breakfast was delicious. Annapolis Royal offers much to see and do.

I hope to return again later this year and see the huge gardens and grounds in full boom.

Annapolis Royal is a peaceful walking town, with a very good botanical garden, interesting historical exhibits, and immediate access to the Bay of Fundy. We were there in early May - off season, but still enjoyed our walking tours of the town and driving tours and hikes in the surrounding areas.

Hillsdale House made the short trip especially comfortable. The hosts put you totally at ease - tea or coffee and cookies when you like; comfortable, quiet rooms; as much or as little conversation as you want about the area. They helped us find a hike along the Bay of Fundy. And breakfast is varied, plentiful, and a good start to the day.

The location of the b&b was fantastic being near the historic gardens and within walking distance of Fort Anne. The room was beautiful with its four-posted bed. The bathroom was spacious. The breakfast was very good. We would stay there again.

After spending a week-long writing retreat in Annapolis Royal at the Hillsdale House, I am recharged and refreshed in my art. My hosts were wonderful, there was fast wireless, fresh muffins every day, (and note for fellow Manitobans, they know how to 'baste' an egg!). As a touring musician, I've seen many corners of this great country and the Annapolis Valley is one of the most beautiful and certainly not overrun areas to visit. The Hillsdale House completes the experience and more. Peaceful, warm atmosphere that feels like it's been waiting 200 years just for you to arrive. One of the King George's stayed there, I stayed there, you should stay there! Yes, and the deer and the bluejay and the hummingbirds, the magnolias stately in the centre of the yard stretching far back to the salt marsh... you won't regret it.

Charming, delightful and a place I will definately return to if I am travelling in the area. The hospitality of the hosts Paul and Val was divine, the quaint community of Annapolis Royale a tourism must. Having an acadian heritage in my husband's family, the look and feel of this charming Inn took me back over the years.

I loved the exterior architecture, it reminded me of my trip to Louisianna when we were following the deportation history of the Acadians from Canada. The interior was everything I had hoped for, well cared for, lots of 'heritage'. It is a pet-friendly property and while there are animals in and about, as a person with cat allergies I never sneezed once -- which to me speaks volumes to the cleanliness of the property and the care of the owners to ensure a terrific guest experience for all.

The breakfast was fantastic. As one guest declared "I have never eaten a meal bigger than my head!" The waffles were delicious, the specialty coffee a great start to my day.

I highly recommend this property to any traveller, business or pleasure. But if you are there for pleasure -- make sure you take time to stop and enjoy the town, it is wonderful -- especially the Heritage Gardens right next door!
