“Visiting this Park is essential to Appreciating the History of the Area”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 10, 2011

The park guides has a mastery of the history like I've never experienced before. He and his twin brother both work for the Parcs du Canada system as history guides, and their family has been in the area since the first years of the 18th century. The fort foundations are about all that are left, but they are magic and magestic too- they'll really fire up the imaginations of history buffs and fort afficionados. In our opinion this should be the a major stop for anyone in Annapolis Royal.

“Great place to run and play and it's FREE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 4, 2011

There are quite a few great things about Fort Anne so I just list them:
- it's free to visit the grounds. The museum entrance fee is reasonable and we have done that on other visits and enjoyed it
- it is big, by the ocean and full of hills and little nooks that are great for running, rolling and hiding!
- there are often people there flying kites and our kids love to watch
- it is joined to the rest of the city by a beautiful seaside boardwalk that takes you all the way to the amazing playground across for the farmer's market

“Nice little walk about ...”

The fort was well kept and very interesting. Not sure how many people realize the history in this area. The garrison cemetary is interesting as well. Top drawer stop for an hour or so.

“A visit to Fort Anne takes you back in time.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 25, 2011

The grounds and museum provide two halves of a whole historic experience. We started in the museum, where we were greeted by Alan Melanson, a tenth Acadian. Charming. The tapestry depicting 400 years of history, completed by members of the community, including Queen Elizabeth, is a wonder. The display explaining the benefit of the fort's star shaped design is fascinating. Grounds well worth a ramble.
