“Discovered a gem in Annapolis - Inn & Hostess!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 7, 2010

I just needed to tell everybody about this treasure we found on our trip through N.S. And not only was the Inn spectacular, but it was the owner, Faith, who made our whole stay memorable and fun! Right off the bat, she accomodated my disabilty by giving us a great deal on a room on the main floor (our room even had its own deck for my smoking husband!) And to our delight, upon arrival we discovered our room was filled with balloons, chocolates and an awesome bottle of wine in recognition of our anniversary which the owner had remembered from our phone conversation weeks ago. She was so very entertaining and a great wealth of information and thanks to her, we were able to relax as somebody else booked our activities and made our reservations for suppers. Even breakfast was a treat as we enjoyed not only a heart-healthy delicious start to our day but also the humour and stories offered by our "hostess with the mostest". This has absolutely been the best anniversary we've shared in years and because of the fabulous time we had, we have already booked the same amazing room for next year's celebration! (and we can't wait to see Faith again: she quickly became a new friend of ours and we will miss her and her adorable dog - we all had tears in our eyes as we said our goodbyes and we can't wait to go back next year!)...so for anybody travelling in the area and interested in enjoying their overnight stay, please do look up Faith at the King George inn and you will be thrilled with all that she has to offer - its like an "all in one" vacation, but with more perks!

If you are looking for a place that let's you just BE on vacation, do not book this inn. The host is extremely hyper, to the point of being aggressively welcoming. Who needs it? She tells you exactly what to do from the minute you arrive--sit here, read these menus, pick one, I'll make a reservation (for which I will definitely receive credit)--to the moment you TRY to grab a quick breakfast before escaping. At breakfast you will learn you are being served a HEALTHY breakfast because she has diabetes, not because she doesn't want to serve bacon or other items that might cost a bit of money. And when she notices that you are less than happy with the fact that she has told you exactly what to do and what not to do in her stuffy Victorian rooms, she will announce at breakfast that you must see her before you leave "for hugs and tears." Do not go here if you don't like being BULLIED into having a good time.

You'll know within minutes the owner was a school teacher. She means well, I'm sure, but her bossy character far exceeds her hospitality. If you can get past her "it's all about me" the rooms are fine (though needing a little maintenance) and the inn is in a good location. If she could learn to be welcoming and hospitable the inn would be so much better, but I don't know if that's in her nature.

What a lovely inn in a delightful town. Faith thoroughly enjoys her guests and wants them to enjoy her home and her town. Breakfast was delicious, fresh, and filling but and wasn't one of those starchy, leaden meals that weighs you down all day. The short walk into the town for historic sights, the tides, small shops, and restaurants was pleasant. We have wonderful memories of our time at the King George.

The King George is well situated in the town, a scant 10 minute walk to the centre of town. Excellent experience with Faith, the proprietor, from booking to departure. She makes you feel as if you are at home. Top notch Nova Scotian hospitality, excellent breakfasts following the Canada Food Guide and diabetic friendly, all freshly made, including fresh local berries. Opportunity to connect with other guests, and engage in friendly conversation in relaxed setting. Faith takes interest in each and every guest. And Misty, her dog greets each guest at the door.

Six of us stayed three nights at the King George Inn August 3, 4 & 5. Previous reviews have been accurate. The inn is beautifully decorated and well maintained. The three rooms we had (3, 4 & 8) were spacious and spotlessly clean. Excellent healthy breakfast. The inn is a leisurely 10-15 walk to restaurants. It's on the main road (as are most of the town's B&Bs/Inns). There is a bit of road noise in the front rooms so if you want to sleep in, ask for a room at the side/rear.
The owner, Faith, is delightful and came right out to our car to welcome us. She has the most adorable new rescue dog, Misty. Thanks, Faith (and Misty), for making our stay in Annapolis Royal so enjoyable!

Cozy, quaint, treated like royalty. We were called 'your highnesses' when we arrived, which was kind of tongue-in-cheek, as we were quite weary from our travels. Biker-friendly. Don't be afraid to ask for rags and the hose to clean your bikes off. Bathroom was tiny but the room was really comfy with a huge king bed and fireplace. Good breakfast included. Great value for your money.
