“Very expensive and they charge 0.50 cents extra for a shower”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

We were there in October 2012, there were no lower rates for after season campers. They charge 0.50 cents for 5 min. of hot water and hidden fees on top of the official camping fees. We cannot recommend them and would not go there again. The beach front is very rocky and therefore unusable. The bathrooms were clean but there was only one shower. The sheet with many rules was unreasonable and rude. Internet is not free either, if you are not staying longer than one night. They charge for EVERY little THING. And when you leave they do not even have a sign that says: Thank you for your visit. We believe they do not want our business, so don't stay there.

Whatever you do, don't stay here. The best part about the place was their website. So, so disappointed. We actually cut our vacation short because it was to crappy and because they pissed us off so much.

Issues
They encourage you to book as many days as you think you may need, and don't tell you they have a no refund policy. (I booked on the phone)
The staff joked about how expensive it is when I was checking in.
Hidden fees. pay extra to shower $.50 for 6 minutes, pay $5 to request a certain site even though the nightly rates vary depending on the location. PLUS, the 11 other fees that I took a picture of. (see my picture in this review)

After our one night of tenting, we ended up paying $198. Crazy!!! for tenting!!!!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere

I couldn't agree more with most of the other comments, except we missed out on the petting zoo. I am surprised they don't charge for the coyote visits. Undoubtly the most overpriced, over rated, crowded sited rv park we have ever stayed in. Makes KOA feel like a widerness experience. After they have your money, you are on your own, unless it is to spend more. Oh, and WiFi, forget it. Excuse is no band width, and too many people want to use it. The place was damn near empty. There are too many other courteous RV parks where they value customers. Only thing that will help is new management.

We stayed the long weekend in August 2012. We took our 2 small dogs for a walk around 1130ish as we had to go to washrooms before we turned in for the night. My husband spotted a coyote by the playground so we hightailed it back to our camp sight. We had lots of lights with us and coyotes don't care for light so we thought we would be ok. My husband was up at 6ish and took dogs for a walk and again the coyote was watching him. He came back to our site and put the dogs in tent. He was still outside and realized that the coyote was beside the tent that our daughter and friend were sleeping in... He roared at the coyote and threw a couple of rocks. Then he came back to bed with the ax..... We talked to worker at office and were advised that they had no other guests mention of a coyote strolling the campground.... ya right! We stayed 2nd night only because we paid for it and girls & dogs slept in van and we again slept with an axe... The campground is ridiculously overpriced and they could have a gold mine there if they had better customer service and actually cared about there guests.....and not nickle and dime you to death.. ie book on internet and pay an extra 8.50/night and they also charge you 1.50 for recycling! Do not recommend this campground to anyone staying in a tent and the sites range in price from 40 - 100/night.... 40/night is ok but 100 come on get real!!!!!

All the othe negative comments are very true. I wish I had researched The Cove more before driving over the mountain to get there. They charge extra for many services. Arriving before 1pm will cost you $8 an hour. The site costs are as high as $100. The charge for showers, for using your credit card, for staying past 11am and even to see the place before you commit to it. Did I mention a charge of $8.50 to make a reservation. They were nearly empty when we were here on August 15th. All the fellow campers we talked to complained of the same things. This place needs new management. It can be beautiful, but you will feel like a chump if you pay their rates and visit them now.

We stayed at the Cove the long weekend in July. We booked and paid for two nights (which was overpriced to begin with) the first night that we stayed there a coyote attacked our tent slashing a hole about a foot wide needless to say we were pretty shook up considering we had a 10 month old and a six year old in the tent. The next day we went to the people in charge to explain to them what happened and that we would not be staying another night - not only bcause our tent was ruined but because we were scared. They refused to give us back our money for the second night saying that they don't do refunds....I think that this qualifies for some kind of compensation seeing as they are responsible for what happens on their campgound not to mention just plain common courtesy. I was really disgusted by the way they treated us after such a tramatic experience and I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

The rock beach was littered all over when we arrived not very nice and may have played a part in our visitors that evening, 3:00 am a coyote riped a hole in our tent and pulled a bag out thankfully didn't come inside but very scarry experience especially with two small children. We thought it was a raccon but later that morning found out there was a coyote spoted by other guests, upon speaking with the manager she informed me that the other week someone else had spoted one, there were no signs posted warning guests of this!! nor had she contacted animal control. We informed her that we would not be staying another night with a huge hole in the tent and coyotes lingering around and she refused to give a refund saying it was out of her control. I would never go back or recommed to anyone worst customer service she didn't even ask if we were ok.
