I lived in Shelburne for 42 years. and raised my children there. It has a wonderful scenic waterfront , friendly people, and a unique museum complex. The waterfront was the backdrop for the movie"The Scarlett Letter" starring Demi More, as well as other movies. . I highly recommend Shelburne for tourists who want to enjoy a cozy little coastal town where you can enjoy a good lobster dinner at any time. Shelburne has a great deal of history, mostly Loyalist and even as an Acadian, I highly recommend a visit.

in the monsters exhibition there is an excellent pufferfish but i have one at home that my mum has lost that is just as impressive. a lot of welsh people came to shelburne (including us) but only a few have got their names in the museum...evans, richards, etc. i think they should have my mate jim's name in as he likes wales, and saw one off digby head, but that is quite a drive away.

Loved the seafood, particularly the scallop burgers at The BeanDock. Loved walking along the harbour in the early mornings. Loved kayaking and being close to nature, and history. hated the mosquitos.

What a wonderful old, historic town! You feel like you've stepped back in time -- truly! The old building accomodations are charming. We loved our B&B & the overall neighborhood. Take the historical walk -- you'll be impressed.

We were driving back to Lunenburg...( where we stayed for a week..) after going down the Yarmouth NS for the day...Stopped in Shelburne, on the advise from a waiter in Yarmouth..
What a great place..unfortunately we arrived after is had closed...
All the wiring is underground..and homes & buildings are from the 1700's...there are tours..earlier in the day..
We stopped by the Barrel Shop..we could hear some body working..
We ended up, watching Ray making a bucket ( wood..) amazing..we ended up buying it...
We certainly will go back to this beautiful part of Nova Scotia...especially when the site is open...
