Unfortunately this is one of the few restaurants in Yellowknife that have any real northern charm. It has a great location and it really is a fun place to go if you know what you're in for. Most nights in the summer it's very busy and it's not unusual to sit a while before any of the servers give you their attention and/or any kind of apology. This is part of the character so be prepared to wait, in other words if you go in with plenty of time and a relaxed attitude you'll be fine. It used to be great when you could help yourself to a beer in the fridge but our Stalin like government liquor board changed the rules so you can't do that anymore. The food is great but way overpriced, if there are two of you and you have a meal and a couple of drinks you're easily in for $100 bill with the tip. That being said, I still recommend going there if you're visiting because as a one time splurge it's a unique place to treat yourself. As a local it's tough to swallow the prices for what is essentially "fish & chips", but I still return a couple of times a year. To sum it up I guess what I'm trying to say is that if it's within your budget, be sure to go.
