“Great guides and package tours”
Reviewed February 28, 2012

Very well organized and orchestrated to make travel to/from Aurora viewing easy and enjoyable. Day activities at Aurora Village also worthwhile, but if you are experienced snowmobiler try one of the tours on Great Slave Lake instead. Great time!

“AMAZING Experience”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

I visited Aurora Village with co-workers a couple of years back and it was far better than I had ever imagined. It is about 30 minutes outside of Yellowknife and I had no idea they had such a beautiful set up until we arrived. They offer aurora viewing and have heated seats that revolve to view the aurora. They also offer dog sled rides which was by far the best of my experience there. In addition they also have tube sledding. This was as well super fun. I was scared to go down as it was rather steep but once you let yourself go there is no looking back, thats for sure. They have tents set up with wood stoves to sit and eat, drink coffee etc. Its just all around beautiful and I would absolutely recommend this place to locals as well as the travelling tourist.

“Best place to see the northern lights!”
Reviewed February 11, 2012

Aurora village is the best place to go to see the northern lights. The staff is very organized and friendly. They offer great activities during the day like drive your own dog sled team which is what we did and it was amazing. At night the aurora lights stream across the whole sky big and bright. A staff member tells you when they have come out so you can stay warm in the teepees till then. Overall amazing experience.

“Wow! Best organized tour yet!”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

Do not be put off by Aurora Village's focus on Asian tourists. Our group of 16 had 2 leaders, one Japanese and one local Dene, and the courtesy given to both English and Japanese was wonderful. You might even say that the English-speaking tourists are given extra special attention! Rent their clothing for the adventure. Absolutely topnotch, clean, and in good condition. We picked up the clothing in its dry cleaning bag at Yellowknife Inn early in the afternoon, and when they dropped us back off at 3am, an Aurora Village employee waited in the lobby of our hotel for us to change and return the clothing. This saved us a great hassle the following morning. The tipis are warm and cozy, the dining hall big and spacious. We spent most of the evening gazing at he sky in anticipation of the Aurora from our roost in the heated viewing seats. Once the Aurora appeared and began its dance, the evening really started to get exciting, with the area and the frozen lake filled with sounds of oooos and ahhhhs. We extended our visit by 90 minutes to catch even more delightful views.

“Worth every penny”
Reviewed January 3, 2012

This place is worth every penny. The highlight is the "ice slide". No worries on getting cold while using the outhouse as they are heated and are equiped with warm wipes too!
