Although I have the greatest respect for Mr Becks and his champion dog sled teams, the experience on the sled was not that great. Big sleds so they can fit up to 5 people at the same time, make it difficult for everyone but the person in front to fully enjoy the experience of being pulled by a team of dogs. There was no explanation on dog sledding. Tour is on the lake next to the kennel, and takes about 30 mins. Majority Japanese tourists when we were there. The process of picking people up from hotels, arriving on site, untill you get told it is your turn to go, and afterwards waiting to be brought back does not feel overly organised, but this could be because we were there in a peak period (just after New Year). Takes about 2.5-3 hrs for a total 30 mins on the track. Important to bring warm clothes, facial protection and preferably a pair of goggles (which I luckily read on Tripadvisor).
If you are just visiting Yellowknife, and have never been on a dogsled, go and do it, reasonable for the price. If you also visit other places, pay a bit more and take for example a Snowy Owl tour in Canmore. Much more personal, great and enjoyable explanation of dog sledding techniques and dogs' behaviour, so a better experience but at higher cost.
