We stayed 4 nights this past December for our first trip to Yellowknife and had an excellent time. The hotel was very clean and conveniently located. Food options in the hotel were good (and helpful) when we didn't want to journey out in the cold for a quick bite to eat. The hotel is very obviously a central hub of activity with constant shuttle pick ups and drop offs from the various tours. Great view from the top floor rooms!

The only negative we experienced was a lack of available electrical outlets in the lower parking area (the upper area with outlets is closed for construction), which meant plugging in the battery warmer for a rental car was impossible -- (this is critical toward being able to start the car without a jump after sitting all night on some of the coldest nights.) We'd happily stay again after the completion of the construction.

Room tip: Excellent views from the top floor looking away from the parking lot

Dear itpries, Thank you very much for your feedback regarding your stay at our hotel. I apologise for the shortage of electrical outlets at the lower parking. The Exploerer is in downtown Yellowknife, very centrally located..... short drive to the air port, walking distance to supermarket, drug store, cinema, various restaurants and many other hotels. There's a tourist centre near by where you can rent your winter out fit, including a warm parker, snow pants, boots and mitts. It also offers various Day trips. The hotel has a cafe and a restaurant. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. I checked out before noon and left my luggage there until 6 pm. That way, I could do more sight seeing before I went to the airport. No coffee pot int the room but there's a kettle. Warm and cozy room with a serene winter scene outside.

Room tip: My room faced the back so I had a beautiful winter view.

Spent three nights at the Explorer on businesses

Prompt shuttle service to from the airport

Nice lobby and lobby lounge/bar

Dining room is off the main lobby and faces the forest. Nice setting

Rooms are nicely sized and well appointed. Flat TV is nice but channel selection is limited. Netflix would be nice.

Good work area in room and coffee maker

Tub w shower - no walk in shower

Quiet at night - no apparent party crowd action in four visits - nice

View from east facing rooms is private vs west facing to the parking lot and highway

Stayed in 603. Very nice. Away from elevators etc.

Good location (close to Franklin Street where everything in town is).
Rooms are great with excellent views. In the early mornings enjoyed staying in the warm room and just taking shots of outside.
if you are lucky you can get sunrise/sunset views of the tranquil landscape.

They also have fridge and microwave.
Staff are friendly.

Great stay highly recommended
