Modern hotel at the top of a hilly outcropping offering good views of the area. A short walk away there is the downtown area, with grocery stores, pubs like the Black Knight, and assorted coffee shops and stores.

I wasn't here long and didn't get a chance to try the amenities or food. the reception staff are great and I never had any problems with checking in/out.

Rooms are spacious and clean with enormous comfortable beds.

I was prepared for a very basic hotel and given how few there are to choose from in Yellowknife, I was very pleasantly surprised. It was clean, the staff were very pleasant and accommodating and the mattresses quite good. I slept well and had a very nice dinner in the restaurant with colleagues.

Room tip: avoid rooms backing on the elevators -vibrations

I organized a business meeting at The Explorer in November and the staff were extremely helpful during the planning stages and during the meeting itself. The Janvier room was perfect and everyone loved the artwork the room is named for. The free airport shuttle was also very much appreciated. Both restaurants offered delicious meals. The Mixed Northern Salad was the best and Sunday Brunch was fantastic. Also a shout-out to the morning break pastries - wish I could have taken some home. Really enjoyed sitting by the fire in the bar eating the best shrimp cocktail I've had in years. The rooms are large and comfortable and the beds are a dream. I had a suite on the 7th floor and the view was gorgeous. Special thanks to Eric, Jean and Megan for their amazing help which contributed to a successful meeting and extended vacation!

Room tip: Ask for a north-facing room for the best view (lake and houseboats)

We had a business meeting at the Prince of Wales Heritage Centre. The hotel was close and quite comfortable with good amenities. The restaurant was excellent as was the wifi connectivity and the business centre and a great view on the 7th floor. Free airport shuttle and professional front desk clerks made the stay even more pleasurable.

The explorer was close to shops and services too. Had a great three days.

Recently stayed 4 nights at this hotel. No issues. Hotel room was large and clean. Had a nice view from my room where you could easily watch the northern lights at night. The hotel was walking distance to many restaurants and sights. Wifi was free and good. Shuttle from the hotel to the airport. Only note is that the hotel restaurant (which was good) is pricy but that is typical.

Would definitely stay there again.
