“Drum Lake Lodge”
Review of Mackenzie River

Mackenzie River
Reviewed December 7, 2012

I went to Drum Lake Lodge July 2012 for about a week, the most beautiful and spectacular Mountains, Lakes, and River system that are accessible by air, water and land. My experience was that for the first time I have visited my ancestral travel route where there is still evidence that people have lived here.

Only a half hour flight from Norman Wells have opened up my eye's to see the mass area of where my people have survived for time immemorial moving from one hinting area to the next. Migrating with the animals and harvesting and trading with European merchants.

There is a story about the area where, during the ice age era, Wrigley Lake, NWT was not affected by the glaciers, and is the oldest place where you can walk around and notice the rock form deteriation and the botanists would have a field day just looking at the different plant species! Who knows, there may even be new plants we don't know about???
