“Good food, good atmosphere and service”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

We have been wanting to return to this spot and when I heard that halibut was in season, it was the perfect time to return. The Peppermill is known for it signature dish...Blacken Halibut. The food was spicy and tasty with a really good portion size. We made a reservation and got a window seat, which was nice. I wish I had room for desert but unfortunately because of the size of halibut there was no way I could include desert. Maybe next time! We had no problem with the service, the young lady was friendly and attentive.

“Very good food, uneven service”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

We went to the Peppermill twice during a five-night stay in St John's: once for dinner and once for dessert. We were there without reservations both times, which wasn't too much of a problem. We enjoyed our dinner very much, but service was not very attentive. The food was excellent, though, including the chowder, cod tongue salad, and pan fried cod. We lost sight of our waiter more than once, and someone else entirely took our order for dessert, which turned out to be an absolutely delicious fruit crisp with ice cream. Which we went back for a couple of nights later, and encountered the same inattentive service.

“Good food but!!!!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

I had the pan fried cod which was excellent and the others in our group had the halibut which everyone agreed was good. The problems are with the service. The waitresses just don't know what to do and given that the owner was present all the time we were there, I'm guessing she doesn't know how to serve either. The air conditioning gave up around 2100 and they served tap water which might just as well have been Javex. They really should use bottled water. I mean there are no entrees under $ 24.

“Good food in a small and cosy space”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

Five of us had dinner there on a Friday night. You need a reservation as the place is small. - and a bit crowded. We all enjoyed our dinner except one who ordered the lobster poutine and said that it was more a guys meal and felt it a bit much for her "foodie" palette. I shared the seafood appetizer which was fabulous. Those that had the cod, Which was still in season really enjoyed it. The haddock was also perfectly cooked. So it was flaky and delicate as it should be if not over cooked. We all had an appertizer so we did not have room for dessert.

“A nice find”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

We wandered by late one evening and Peppermill still had a table. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this restaurant. The food was very well prepared and tasty. Service was great. We loved it and it was reasonably priced.
