Stunning area!
The views are incredible! From the walk up to the lighthouse to the historic bunkers below.... looking across to Signal Hill. The weather was interesting...our walk down was so windy...then the bunker tour brought rain...by the time we walkes back up and to the lighthouse there was no wind and it was sunny!

Very nice views over the oceans, a must do if you're in St. John's! It's a 20 min drive from the city and you'd probably need a car to go there.

We have visited here several times and the view is breathtaking! There are hiking trails that lead for KMs from here, a historical museum, an art gallery and a gift shop with something for everyone. At certain times of the year you can see whales from here nd it’s always awesome to see ships coming in. This is also a beautiful spot fo photography.

Makes you appreciate The travellers of the years ago with no fancy navigational aids! Accessibility is not bad but as per the landscape allows it’s not easy for those who have issues walking.

We had a picknick looking out over Freshwater Bay and watched the whales breaching. Then we walked up the short trail/steps and rested near the lighthouse looking out over the sea only to hear and then see whales breaching just down below us near the cliffs An awesome sight.

I was not inclined to see the sunrise; the weather was so bad (as it frequently is this time of year) that it could not have been seen anyway.
Nevertheless, the views are incredible. I'm sure they are even better when the lighthouse isn't closed for the season.
Well worth the time and braving the elements.

Was neat to see Cape Spear, especially being furthest point east in North America. Was very windy and bit rainy, dress warm for sure. There was a full rainbow in front of us, forgot to buy lotto tickets.

Lighthouses are great to visit, and this us one of the best! Unfortunarely, the original house is beingcrenovated and thus closed. But the scenery and surroundings are what makes it worthwhile to come. Great place!

A trip to NL is not complete without a trip out to Cape Spear. You can almost hear the battles that took place to protect St. John's harbour. The view is spectacular. Work has been done on the caves to make them safer. It takes away from it a bit....but safety first.

The lighthouse was going under construction. But! The tunnels were even more interesting! They had some pretty big guns guarding the entrance to the St. John's harbor! The acoustics in the tunnel opening, facing the ocean was phenomenal! A bunch of us stood slightly in the opening and sang "O Canada!" Brought a tear to everyone's eyes! Well marked paths with signage were a bonus!
