It is a great activity. From young to old will find something to do or learn about. Earth, rock history, oil and even an exhibit about the Titanic. It really brings together all the physical history about this province Newfoundland.

We visited in June 2012 and found the exhibits excellent. I took 500 pictures to educate my granddaughter about geology. Am currently writing up the lessons based on the information from the pictures. We spent four hours, but could have spent the whole day had we arrived there in the morning instead of after lunch.

We heard about this place from a colleague who visited St John's last year. Much bigger from the inside than one would expect. If you wish to see the movies allow 3 hours. Not sure what the Florida swamp one had to do with geology, but was better than the ocean one which both myself and my colleague drifted off too. The titanic display boards are very good as are the other geologic displays. Perhaps more suited for kids, but interesting never the less.

One thing to mention is that we tried 3x to get in. For some reason the site enjoys AM snow days if there is a weather warning. The only way to find this out is to drive up and see a sign, meaning someone has to drive it to post it... With this in mind, for winder, you may wish to put aside an afternoon. The complex closes at 5, admission was in around 10$ pp

Come and find out about the extraordinary geological history of Newfoundland. Exhibits are intriguing and informative. Set on Signal Hill, overlooking the city, the location adds to the splendour of the place.

The Geo Centre is incredibly huge on the inside and very informative and educational. One needs at least 2-3 hours but, if your time does not allow this the experience is still worth going. If you have more time, one could stay 4 hours or more if you have an interest in geology and our Earth. The Centre provides short movies in their theatres and special exhibits too which the Titanic exhibit was there when we explored the Centre. We were amazed at the historically accurate documents of this exhibit. Also my wife and I made a connection from Newfoundland to our home in West Virginia through the mountain chains. Plenty of interactive learning tools for adults and children alike. The Center is mostly underground and provides relief from a hot summer's day too. Overall, we highly recommend visiting this site as the Centre offers something for everyone. We enjoyed our experience so much we would go back again to learn more interesting facts about our great planet earth and Newfoundland.
