“Wonderful place to visit.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2013

We visited the brewery on Aug 2/13. The brewery is in a small village and very difficult to find a parking spot. However, it is well worth the visit. The area is quaint and the scenery is breathtaking. We missed the tour but did attend the kitchen party upstairs on Fri evening. The music was lively and the workers and patrons were all so very friendly. It was one of the highlights of our 10 day trip to Newfoundland. We think it is a must see when visiting St John's.

“Great use for an old fish processing plant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Most decommissioned fish plants serving the Grand Bank fishery lie vacant and decaying. Two off shore petroleum engineers have found a unique use for this historic harbor's decommissioned fish plant.
The micro brewery is quite good, but the real attraction is the setting located in sweet little community of Quidi Vidi, a small harbor whose tiny entrance is practically indiscernible from passing ships. When the fishing moratorium was announced due to tragic over fishing on the grand banks little communities like this one lost their raison d'etre, their fish plants closed, and their communities changed for ever. Fortunately being so close to St.John's this community survived and its fish plant became a brewery.

A beer sampling tour of the brewery is conducted regularly in the upstairs "pub" at the brewery. It is a good event even if you are not a fan of beer in general or of this brand in particular, because they tell a good yarn about their beers and have a good laugh about their brand.

Although I am a wine drinker, the beers sampled were delicious with my tastes favoring the 1892 brew. Similarly the Iceberg beer was excellent. Most of all I loved the site, the sights, and the entertaining presentation. well worth the $15.

“Best Beer Brewery in NFL!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 17, 2013

Met NFL locals at supermarkets on the island. They all highly recommended us to try Quidi Vidi. So at the end of our trip before flying out St John, we went to visit the Quidi Vidi Brewery.

We were so lucky and met David, owner of the Quidi Vidi Brewery. He took us a personal tour of this small beer brewery at 0830 in the morning. It was supposed still not yet opened!! In the afternoon, we returned again for a beer tasting tour which cost us $15/person. The tour was good and we were able to know the history of the brewery and most important, we could try all different beer products from this little beer brewery. We love it!!

It's a pity that Quidi Vidi Beer is only available in some local supermarket / shops in NFL. If traveler has a chance to come or pass by St John, they should try this NFL beer or take a beer tasting tour at the brewery here. CHEERS!!

“PICTURE PERFECT QUIDI VIDI”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

We stopped at the Quidi Vidi Brewery to buy a 6 pack of Iceberg Beer for my Dad. The steep narrow hill down to small parking lot is not suitable for Ford pickup trucks to turn around!!!!! Great place for photos of the scenery! We didn't take time for the tour. Gift shop for brewery souvenirs. It is worth the short drive from St. John's to Quidi Vidi!

“Beer is vastly overrated”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

The walk to Quidi Vidi is absolutely essential, the location of the brewery wonderful and charming, the people near the dock friendly as heck. Definitely worth buying a half-sack and sampling the local wares and unique scenery. Having said that, the beer, and I tried them all, is meh. Lacking in character and complexity and, in the case of Iceberg, more tourism than taste. Yellowbelly is a better choice for beer-lovers.
