Owner description: Join Newfoundland's award-winning boat tour Iceberg Quest as we depart from the heart of downtown St. John's. Walking distance from hotels and B&B's, our two hour fully narrated tour lets you experience Cape Spear, Cabot Tower, and Fort Amherst from the sea. Witness the world's largest concentration of humpback whales, watching as they thrust their massive 40 ton bodies into the air. Show times may vary! Steam through the passageway of 12,000 year old icebergs and view the elegant Atlantic Puffin. Both entertaining and educational, our narrated tour is fun for the whole family. Private charters and special packages available. Departing daily at 9:30am, 1:00pm, 4:00pm and 7:00pm, our tours offer traditional music, snacks and full bar service, and 'screech-ins'. We invite you to "Step aboard. Experience the WONDER!"

“Iceberg Quest St. John's”
Reviewed September 20, 2012

I took my three grandchildren, ages 7 to 17, from Ontario on this tour in mid August and we're all very happy I did. The older kids and I were amazed by the scenery and the whales. My young grandson loved the boat ride and enjoyed seeing the whales and seabirds. We took lots of pictures and many fond memories of the day. I hope to do the tour with other family members next July. Good job, Ocean Quest!

“Don't go in late August”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

When we bought our tickets, we were told there was a 50/50 chance we'd see whales. It was clear when we got on the boat that there was no possibility of seeing whales. We saw five puffins, a sunfish, and some seagulls. It was nice to see the St. John's harbour, Signal Hill, and Cape Spear, from the water, but I'm not sure why they sell tickets when they know there are no whales or icebergs to be seen.

“Great Fun!”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

Growing up on Maui, I've seen my fare share of whales, but never up close. This whale watching tour did just that and they kept us near the whales for about 1/2 hour so we could get our fill. There were a lot of puffins floating around our boat as well. Seeing New Foundland from the water perspective was amazing! We neared several places that we had visited on land over the prior few days so that made it even better. The crew was very friendly and professional and seemed to take an interest in our satisfaction. Everyone left the tour happy and satisfied.

“Whalewatching and screeching”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

There are two tour operators who leave from St John's harbour on whale watching and wildlife boat tours. We chose Iceberg Quest ocean tours randomly and are happy we did. Their boat was well suited to the choppy seas and cooler weather we encountered, with sheltered interior spaces. The staff were just lovely - friendly and informative, and best of all they found us the humpback whales we had been hoping to see. They don't guarantee the whale encounters, but on the day of our trip it did seem like they really went the distance to get us close to these amazing mammals. On the return journey, for those who had signed up, we got to be screeched in, in the St John's tradition, and although somewhat nervous about taking the shot of rum, I swear it helped settle my stomach. All in all a great trip, probably the highlight of our visit to St. John's.
