Beautiful scenery and history!
We were told by evey local we met to go up the hill.
One side looks out at the ocean, another the downtown/harbour area of St. John's and the surrounding area! You can see for miles.

I took my grand children to the top of Signal Hill this summer. It was a rainy day but looking out over the harbour was awesome. Always enjoy the view and seeing all the people here.

Officially a national historic site but free to enter and use. I am local and visit often for photos or just to hang out and relax. The hike can be a bit scary but not too difficult if you choose to start on top and walk down... The hike up the stairs and paths is Much harder than walking up the road... Easier to go as a pair and leave one car on bottom (lol)

Beautiful views. History. Etc. Good parking. But in order to go down the paths it’s EXTREMELY steep and a long way down so be cautious.

You can't visit St John's with out spending and afternoon on Signal Hill...beautiful spot...My recommendation is to cab it up and walk the trails back down...Stunning views...I could have sat up there all day if it wasn't for the wind

This is one you shouldn’t miss if you are visiting St. John’s new foundland. Beautiful views and free unless you want to buy things in the gift shop at the top on the hill

If you are a photographer this is a great spot for you! Not only is there a great view if the ocean, but a beautiful panoramic view of the city. The harbour is definitely the focal point and many times one can see ships and boats entering and leaving.

There is a museum and gift shop within the tower, as well as displays along the hill of cannons. The site features a re enactment. There is a coffee shop on site for a treat as well. For hikers there is a trail that leads along the hillside for a better ocean view.

This is definitely a family friendly site, although some features, like the hike are not suitable for young children.

Watched the sunrise. Beautiful to see it with no land on horizon! Although there was some low cloud cover it didn’t deter from knowing that I was seeing the sun come up at the almost furthest east point of land. It was seriously windy and cold but worth it!

Best weather to hike Signal Hill. We climbed the Cabot Tower and then enjoyed the gun salute. The person doing the talking was so funny! He explained why the gun was fired at 12 noon, so that people could set there watches etc. Then proceeded to tell us to cover our ears when he shouted "fire the gun". The crowd did as they were told, except the gun miss fired. 3 times. So hilarious was his comment afterwards. "It's not noon until we SAY it is". A fantastic experience and hike.
