Gorgeous views of the city and sea and interesting history to the tower to explore. It is very windy (!) up there so bring a sweater or jacket and definitely tie back long hair!

“A must!”
Reviewed August 15, 2012

We were there during the reenactment of the War of 1812. It was quite exciting to see the cannons being shot, but the actors were not into it. Even so, it was a great experience!

We walked to Signal Hill from Downtown St. John's. I do not recommend doing this unless you are pretty good shape. The hills are STEEP. Once we arrived at Signal Hill we decided to continue on a trail to the bottom of the hill. The views were amazing! However, I would like to point out it was very physically challenging. An older lady with a cane made it down part way, but couldn't make it back up.

“Signal Hill”

It is right in St John's . So it is a must see and.costs nothing . To do it you have to do the stairs down to the water and then look up to the building.. The view of St John's from the tower was great.

“Stunning”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

This is a must-see for any person coming to St. John's. This location is not only of historic significance, but it also gives you an amazing view of the narrows and the city. There are several great trails in and around the area that are great to check out.

“Signal Hill Visitor's Centre not worth the money”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

Signal Hill itself is a must for visitors to St. John's, but not all attractions are equal on this site. While I would recommend the GeoCentre and entrance to Cabot Tower is free (whether you are interested in the exhibit or not), I can't recommend the price of entry to the Visitor's Centre. This is a single-storey building halfway up the hill. You can't miss it because traffic has been diverted to make sure you drive right to the door, but unless you consider $6 a fair price for a 20-minute history film, don't bother buying a ticket. To be fair, it is a very well-done little film! The staff member who greeted us on the day was distracted and didn't speak English very well. We sat in the dark for about 10 minutes before having to exit the theatre to remind her to turn on the film. There are a handful of artifacts on display, but nothing to amuse the kids for long. There is a small canteen and a public restroom that fill an important need.
