Newfoundland is renowned for its seafood, so we were keen to try some seafood dishes for lunch. Corner Brook is a small coastal town with few dining establishments.
The Newfound Sushi Restaurant has limited seating inside, but we chose to eat outside on the decked front terrace. There is an extensive range of tempura, sashimi, sushi and teppanyaki etc dishes.
We chose lobster claw tempura (2 sizeable pieces) with garlic sauce $10 to share as starter, followed by by 6 sushi choices (2 shrimp, salmon, albacore, tuna, crab) each choice comprising of 3 pieces of fish, each choice costing about $6.95, to share. It was servd in traditionl Japanese fashion with chopsticks and with ginger and wasabi sauce on the side. We had a good bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon for $30.
What made this an excellent choice was that the quality of the fish was extremely good and the very freshest. In addition the waitress was extremely charming and professional. With coffees and sparkling waters the meal for 2 came to just under $100 (we probably ordered too much food!).
