“Quaint hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013

We stayed here based on tripadvisor reviews. We found it easy to find in spite of nearby construction. The grounds are beautiful, the hotel needs some TLC (it is a heritage inn, after all) but the room had been recently renovated and was very comfortable (seems like all mattresses in Newfoundland are cloud soft comfy and high off the floor). We had drinks at King Henry's Pub, then dinner in the Wine Cellar Steak House. Great service, food average. Carriage Room, next morning for great breakfasts. Very quiet, restful sleep, all in all a great place

This hotel was hard to find in a city that's tricky to get around in anyway (think "small Pittsburgh") with hills, curvy one-way streets, and, of course, construction. The hotel is a made-over corporate lodging for some company. Turned out to be much bigger than the pictures suggested. Very small elevator wasn't a problem for us because we came and went at off hours but could be a real traffic jam if everyone needs to get away at the same time. Front desk service was pleasant but slow both arriving and departing.

Quaint hotel with lots of character and history. It is not what I would call an updated hotel, but it was clean and quiet. It offered free internet, but breakfast was not included. There is a great on-site dining room with reasonable prices and good food. The service in the dining room was great. I was travelling with a person who was gluten sensitive and the dining room made every effort to deal with the dietary restrictions. There is also a privately owned and run art gallery on-site, The Ewing Gallery, featuring wonderful works of art from Newfoundland artists.

Room Tip: You might want a room in the newer section.

Our room was clean and comfortable, staff was friendly, and we enjoyed eating breakfast in the beautiful dining room. The inn is located near a walking trail that will take you to a business area. The building has been added onto over the years and our room was in the newer section. Friends of ours who stayed in the older section reported a musty smell in their room so I would recommend asking for a room in the new wing. The staircase is grand but the elevator is small and slow. A pub is located on the lower level with a large deck just outside. This is a good place to stay while in Corner Brook.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the newer section.

My father and I stayed a total of 5 nights, before and after our amazing tour. 1st night after a tiring plane trip we are told they only have 1 room for us. We booked 2 (dad snores loudly!) and had documents to prove it. The young man at the desk couldn't have cared less. Said there were other places we could try. Never apologized or offered to call places for us. We were so tired we just stayed in the 1 room. Told him we hadn't eaten (their restaurant was closed) & asked about places that deliver. He said there were some but didnt have menus or even phone #'s! Next day a very nice lady said the mix-up had been their fault & they were very sorry, even upgraded my dads room to a suite! Carriage room restaurant great 1st time, but 1 week later the food was positively inedible, including the desserts which tasted days old. The Wine Cellar downstairs tho was beautiful with amazing food! Beds clean & comfy, but windows dirty in room & strange smudges and hair stuck on the wall in bathroom. Apart from guy at desk 1st night, everyone was very friendly & helpful. Not sure if I would stay there next time...

We booked 2 nights and cancelled the second. We booked our room in the old part of the hotel expecting some old world charm to permeate the rooms but were bitterly disappointed. The room was small, had a musty odour and the bathroom was very small. No place to put cosmetics etc. There was one Kleenex left in the box. There was a very large recycling bin in front of the window in this tiny room - it took up much needed space. When the room was booked, I asked what the room was like, double bed, queen, type of washroom etc and was told that the room wasn't booked until we checked in. I had seen pictures on the internet and was expecting something quite different. If you left the bathroom door open, the TV couldn't be seen.We voiced our concern about the room and were told that evening, it was all they had. The next morning, the manager said there were other rooms but we wanted the old part of the hotel. We won't be back.

Our home for a few days , the Glynmill Inn
Love that it was built in 1920 , has character. We loved our Delux room . Great value for what we received. The staff is gracious and very friendly. The restaurant was one of our favourites during our three week trip . Gluten Free knowledgable. I would stay here again and again.
