“One great evening at the Glynmill Inn”
Reviewed November 1, 2011

Although we only spent one night at the Glynmill Inn, we had a very enjoyable stay. We were in town to go ziplining at Marble Mountain (Marble Zip), which we highly recommend! We booked a junior suite for four people at the very reasonable rack rate of $189. When we arrived in the afternoon, we were surprised to learn that check-in wasn't until 4:00PM. This was very inconvenient, as 3:00PM is a universal check-in time. We asked the front desk to call us as soon as the room was ready as we had just driven for 8 hours. The front desk called us at 3:59 pm. This was very frustrating, but it was the only time we had any problems during our stay.

The junior suite was quite large with a living room area which was separated by a privacy door. The room came equipped with a wet bar including a small refrigerator. The living room had a large, flat-screen TV and the bedroom had a smaller tube television. The bedroom had a king size bed which was very comfortable by all accounts. I'm a very light sleeper and found the pull-out couch to be very comfortable. The bathroom was small, but functional.

We ate breakfast in the Carriage Room. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly, and they were very well-priced. The Carriage Room is quite lovely, but we all felt an update could restore its previous beauty.

The hotel is a little more traditional than I would normally like. It could definitely use some upgrading in the lobby and dining areas, but it certainly wasn't bad either! Overall, the rooms were very nice and the location was great.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the parking lot may be a little noisier.

We stayed for two nights. This 80 or 90 year-old building has been maintained on the outside in its original style, while the inside is fairly modern. The rooms are up to date with good beds, and are clean. The hall floors creak a little, but it's part of the charm. We used 2 dining rooms and the bar, and were happy with all. The hotel is well placed for a walking tour of the central park area and the rest of Corner Brook. We enjoyed this old lady.

My wife and myself and friends spent two nights at the Glynmill Hotel, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The hotel is about 90 years old and stands in it's own grounds, near to the centre of town. We were greeted by friendly reception staff given basic information on the area. Our rooms were clean and spacious, though the bathroom's could have done with a little modernising. There were two queen size beds in each room, tables and chairs, TV, though reception was not very good, plus free wi-fi (Internet).

We had one meal evening meal and two breakfasts, all very good and I would like to single out Brad, who took care of us at all these meals, thanks Brad!

All in all a pleasant stay and we would stay again.

We had a lovely stay here. The carpets and drapes are a bit dated for the price they are asking for the rooms. The bed was very comfortable. The furniture in the suite was a little dated also. We hit a heat wave on our trip and was happy to have a/c in the suite. Check your bill carefully when leaving for extra charges. Local calls were added to our room. I would have been okay with it if we had called long distance but local?

Fabulous staff (Wendy, Tanya and everyone else!), atmosphere, location, food (both in the Carriage Room and The Cellar, not to mention lunches that were provided for our meetings)...try to be there on a Monday so that you can taste the chef's grandmother's soup!

I would recommend this place to anyone...wish I had time to write more!

We were pleasantly surprised when we entered this inn in Corner Brook. It is reminiscent of historic hotels in the White Mountains or Quebec City. The accommodation for the 4 in our party (2 of them, children) was superb, with a comfortable 2-room suite with 2 bathrooms and a view of the lake. I could not have asked for better and would recommend it anyone looking for a quality stay in the Corner Brook area!
