“Inner city haven”

One of the nicest inner city parks I have ever visited includes a public golf course. Well kept trails and pleasant open areas

“Something for everybody in the middle of the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

There's a Zoo, Campground, Cafe, Stables, dog park, a great playground, Golf Course, supervised Beaches, picnic sites, and over 55 km of trails for all levels. Some of the most technical mountain biking trails in Canada. There's an interpretation centre where you can get park information, and a really great trail map. There are always special events going on and the park can be explored by horseback, bycicle, or foot. In the winter there are groomed cross country ski trails and you can rent snowshoes as well. The fall boasts some beautiful views of the city and changing leaves. There is also skating on Lily Lake during the winter, and in the summer you can swim, paddle boat, or canoe. For out of town visitors it is right off the highway, and on the city transit bus system. www.rockwoodpark.ca

“Beautiful park in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

Many trails to pick from from easy to more advanced, Head around Lilly lake trail for an easy stroll with very few inclines and a picture perfect view of the lake from the upper bridge. Have a great lunch at Lillys Cafe on the beautiful outdoor patio right on the lake or inside their cozy cafe. Bike rentals, geo caching, snow shoe rentals/guides, rock climbing instruction, boat rentals, and skate rentals available at the bottom of the pavilion in Daytripping. Locker rooms and bathroom facilities available for the public. You can swim at Lilly lake or Rockwood lakes but make sure it has rained recently. In the coldest part of the winter ice skating happens on Lilly lake,
DO NOT FEED THE DUCKS! We have a major problem where they do not go south in the winter and can freeze and die if they stay here.
Head down near frying pan lake or long lake for a little more advanced trail or get a map at the interpenetration center to go on much more advanced bike trail or hike. The park is also a Stonehammer geo site for those rock lovers out there. Camping also on site for some tents and trailers. Only a few minutes to drive to the uptown core of the city. There is also a nice play ground near the horse stables. Horse back riding and hay rides available. The park is clean and well kept and fairly busy , but never crowded.Lots of parking when you enter the park across the street from the community garden.

“Great Trails!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

There are lots of trails in the park. Be sure to get a map as they are not all well marked. Many of the trails are well groomed and accessable to just about everyone! There are stables, a playground, swimming and a campground. There is also a dog park at Fisher Lake.

“Nice park”

Nice drive. Great restaurant. They have a very helpful interpertation centre. They also have camping. It is nice to sit on the restaurant patio and watch the paddlers. For a fee, you can rent a kayak
